Enterprise Java Support Engineer | Incident Management, Troubleshooting, System Optimization, Support Automation
Job Summary
Synechron is seeking a dedicated and experienced Java Prod Support Engineer to ensure the stability, availability, and performance of enterprise applications in production environments. In this role, you will collaborate with development and operations teams to troubleshoot, resolve issues, and enhance system reliability. Your technical expertise will support continuous operations, drive incident resolution, and improve support processes to ensure high levels of system resilience and business continuity.
Software Requirements
Required: Java (version 8+), Spring Framework, Hibernate, SQL (MySQL, Oracle, SQL Server), Java IDEs (Eclipse, IntelliJ IDEA, NetBeans), monitoring and alerting tools (Splunk, Nagios, AppDynamics), scripting languages (Shell, Python, Perl), ticketing and incident management tools (ServiceNow, Jira)
Preferred: Cloud platforms (AWS, Azure), automation scripting, advanced monitoring and logging tools, configuration management tools (Ansible, Terraform)
Experience level: 5-7 years of supporting enterprise applications in a production environment
Overall Responsibilities
Monitor and support production applications to ensure high availability, performance, and security
Troubleshoot and diagnose complex technical issues, performing root cause analysis to identify underlying problems
Manage incident logs, coordinate resolution efforts, and communicate updates effectively to stakeholders
Support deployment and patching activities; validate system stability post-deployment
Collaborate with development teams to analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve bugs and outages
Optimize system configurations, database performance, and application workflows to enhance efficiency
Maintain and update support documentation, runbooks, and operational procedures
Participate in on-call rotations and provide support during off-hours as required
Identify areas for process improvements, automation opportunities, and capacity planning
Ensure compliance with organizational policies, data security, and regulatory standards
Technical Skills (By Category)
Programming Languages:
Essential: Java (version 8+), Shell scripting, Python (preferred)
Preferred: Perl or other scripting languages for automation
Databases/Data Management:
MySQL, Oracle, SQL Server; experience with query tuning and performance optimization
Cloud Technologies:
Basic knowledge of AWS or Azure cloud services supporting DevOps or deployment activities (preferred)
Frameworks and Libraries:
Spring Framework, Hibernate, Java EE components, logging frameworks (Log4j, SLF4J)
Development Tools & Methodologies:
Eclipse, IntelliJ IDEA, NetBeans, Jenkins, CI/CD pipelines, ITSM tools, Agile/Scrum practices
Security & Protocols:
Data encryption, access control mechanisms, secure coding practices, SSL/TLS protocols
Experience Requirements
5+ years of experience supporting enterprise applications in a production environment
Proven expertise in troubleshooting and resolving high-impact incidents and outages
Experience with application monitoring, incident management, and system performance tuning
Familiarity with databases, scripting, and automation tools
Industry experience in finance, banking, or large enterprise IT environments is preferred; equivalent experience in other sectors is acceptable
Day-to-Day Activities
Monitor system health, performance, and incident logs to proactively detect issues
Troubleshoot and resolve system outages, application errors, and database problems
Collaborate with development and operations teams to implement fixes, patches, and configuration changes
Support deployment processes, validate system stability post-release, and conduct post-incident reviews
Document troubleshooting procedures, escalation processes, and operational best practices
Participate in incident management, on-call support, and regular system audits
Identify opportunities for automation, process improvements, and capacity planning
Communicate effectively with technical teams and stakeholders regarding issue status and resolution timelines
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field
5+ years of hands-on experience supporting enterprise systems in production environments
Certifications in ITIL, cloud services, or enterprise support tools are a plus
Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills
Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently and work under pressure
