To enable NN’s strategy, the right IT landscape is essential. Therefore, we are looking for a Java Engineer in our Integration & Cloud domain.
What does your job as a Java Engineer look like at NN?
As a Java Engineer, you will be part of one of the scrum teams in Integration & Cloud, responsible for the API integration layer, APIs, and web applications. Together, they will form the technical core of our organization supported by the IT Domain Lead and Scrum Master.
- You perform tasks related to the application development lifecycle: installing new applications, updating them, performing testing, and of course actual programming.
- As an enthusiastic developer, you analyze our NN Azure environment. You make proposals and implement its architecture.
- You automate processes so that maintenance and deployment require minimal time.
- Key concepts within our scrum team are security, CI/CD, compliance, and the maintainability of the Azure platform.
- You are driven by researching and integrating cloud technologies and developing technical solutions, and you have a healthy interest in AI tools and their evolution.
The Integration & Cloud domain designs, builds, and maintains the backend of nearly all application chains at NN. The team is known for working in an agile way and consists of around 40 internal and external colleagues collaborating in scrum teams.
In addition to strong programming skills, we are looking for Java developers who want to understand and tackle complex technical challenges, enabling us to deliver sustainable and future-oriented solutions, with special attention to AI integrations.
What do you bring as a Java Engineer?
- You have a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree (e.g., in information systems) or a similar qualification supplemented with relevant experience.
- You have more than 2 years of experience as a Java Engineer.
- You are motivated to build Java APIs using frameworks such as Quarkus.
- Multidisciplinary IT knowledge of software, hardware, and infrastructure is a must.
- Experience with a DevOps organization.
- Knowledge of Azure components such as Azure API Management, Service Plans, Function Apps, and Kubernetes (we are starting to build containers) is a plus.
- Knowledge sharing comes naturally to you, and you challenge yourself to keep your Java and technical skills up to date.
- You have a strong interest in understanding and analysing the business problems for which you develop solutions.
- You have a good command of spoken and written English, and ideally you also speak some Dutch or French.
- Last but not least, you enjoy an open culture where collaboration and ownership are central.
