About the role

As a Java Developer in the Guidewire Tribe, you will play a key role in maintaining and developing new functionalities for the Guidewire platform. The Guidewire Tribe is responsible for driving innovation and developing advanced software solutions to support both our customers and the company’s growth. You will contribute to designing and building new features, ensuring they are robust, scalable, and aligned with the business objectives.

Your primary responsibilities will include:

• Participating in the design and development of new Java-based systems on the Guidewire platform (Guidewire, written in Gosu, built on Java, running on the JVM).
• Collaborating with both back-end and front-end teams, depending on the needs of each project.
• Identifying and implementing pragmatic solutions that balance quality, time, and resources in the development of new products.
• Developing and enforcing guidelines for code quality, testing, performance, monitoring, CI/CD, etc., focusing on both functional and non-functional requirements.
• Provides analysis and troubleshoot production bugs from a Guidewire application.
• Troubleshooting and optimizing the integration of new products with existing systems.
• Mentoring and guiding less experienced developers to ensure high-quality output.
• Ensuring that the solutions developed align with IF’s technical and business goals while delivering customer value.

About the team

You will join the Guidewire tribe, where you'll be surrounded by nearly 100 skilled developers, business analysts, and architects. Within the tribe, you'll be part of your own squad, consisting of 6 to 10 members, including a Scrum Master, Product Owner, and developers. We are fully committed to an agile working approach, where teams are highly self-organized and take ownership of setting priorities, defining workflows, and making estimations to maintain high efficiency. The work environment is hybrid, with a minimum of 3 fixed days in the office.

Who are you?

We would like you to have several years of experience as a Java Developer, experience working in IT for large companies, and a solid technical foundation. You are used to working pragmatically and result-oriented, focusing on finding the best possible solution within the given constraints. You thrive in a prominent, communicative, and outgoing role, solving both simple and complex problems.

In addition, we expect you to:

• Have a minimum of 5 years of experience with Java (Java 8 or newer)
• Have experience on ReactJS, SQL, SQLServer
• Have experience with modern development methods and technologies (REST, K8S, Solid, CI/CD, microservices)
• Be familiar with working in agile teams and have experience with tools like Git, ADO, and Jenkins
• Have a good understanding of software architecture and design patterns
• Be both self-driven and skilled at collaborating and communicating with the team and all other stakeholders at Topdanmark
• Be proficient in both Danish and English, written and spoken
• Have experience developing solutions that need to be scaled and maintained over the long term

It will be an advantage, but not a requirement, if you have experience with Guidewire, CI/CD, and automated testing.
