Java AI Application Engineer

We are seeking an experienced Java AI Application Engineer with 8+ years of expertise in Java Full Stack Development, AI, business intelligence, and reporting. The ideal candidate will work with Java Application development, Generative AI, Snowflake, Python, REST APIs, Big Data, Snowflake, and reporting application development and optimize analytics solutions that drive business insights.

Key Responsibilities

• Java Application development and Leverage Generative AI for predictive analytics, automation, and business intelligence

• Develop Java application and integrate REST APIs for data exchange and reporting automation.

• Utilize Python, PYSPARK for data analysis, automation, and AI-driven insights.

• Lead data analytics initiatives, translating business needs into actionable insights and reporting solutions.

• Work with Big Data technologies (e.g., Spark, Hadoop, Databricks) to handle large-scale datasets.

• Collaborate with cross-functional and offshore teams to deliver scalable analytics solutions.

• Provide leadership in data strategy, application development best practices, and business intelligence initiatives.

• Conduct ad hoc analysis and deep dives into key business performance metrics.

• Mentor and guide junior analysts in data best practices and reporting methodologies.

• Integrates subject matter and industry expertise within a defined area.

• Responsible for volume, quality, timeliness and delivery of data science projects along with short-term planning resource planning.

• Ensure data governance, integrity, and security across analytics workflows.

• Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.

Required Qualifications

• 8 + years of experience in application development, business intelligence, or data engineering.

• Strong Programming skills in Java, developing and integrating REST APIs and Python, automation and AI-driven analytics.

• Hands-on experience with Angular for building data visualization or reporting applications.

• Leverage Generative AI for predictive analytics, automation, and business intelligence.

• Design and implement benchmarks to measure the performance of software systems within AI capabilities and make recommendations on technology selection.

• Develop applications that leverage LLMs and FMs.

• Experience with one or multiple areas of AI technology stack including prompt engineering, guardrails, vector databases/knowledge bases, LLM hosting and fine-tuning.

• Hands on experience and good understanding of column-oriented databases, distributed database management systems and NoSQL databases.

• Expertise on advanced analytics solutions (such as predictive, prescriptive and descriptive analytics) and real-time analytics

• Experience working with Big Data tools such as Spark (PYSPARK), Hadoop, or Databricks with hands on experience in tuning Hive and impala and knowledge on Apache Tez and Spark frameworks

• Expert knowledge on Yarn architecture, MRv2, HDFS and ECO system tech stack and experience handling large datasets.

• Exposure to the Snowflake

Preferred Qualifications

• Exposure to streaming technologies (Kafka, Kinesis, or similar).

• Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS GCP) and CI/CD practices.

• Understanding of data security, governance, and compliance best practices.

• Bachelor’s/University degree or equivalent experience, potentially master’s degree

Primary Location Full Time Salary Range:

$125,760.00 - $188,640.00
