The Risk Technology group builds and supports a global risk platform enabling the Risk Management group to oversee all areas of risk across the Firm. The risk platform provides capabilities for measuring, quantifying, analyzing, reporting, and controlling exposures across market risk and credit risk.
We are seeking a highly skilled and strategic Risk Technology Lead for our Tokyo office to work closely with traders, risk managers, and quants to drive the build out of a global risk technology platform. The platform will support financial risk technology focused on market risk and counterparty credit risk. The role is key to the Risk Technology’s strategic expansion into Asia and will also contribute significantly to the global team. This role is pivotal in ensuring the development of scalable, secure, and high-performance systems that enable real-time risk assessment, regulatory compliance, and data-driven decision-making across the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Partner with risk managers, quants, traders, and technology teams to implement technology solutions for risk management
- Act as a central point of contact and manage development and drive adoption of risk technologies within Asia region
- Drive the adoption of modern engineering practices including CI/CD, test automation, and cloud-native development (AWS, Kubernetes, AirFlow, Snowflake).
- Ensure systems meet high standards of security, scalability, and performance, particularly in handling sensitive financial data.
- Oversee the delivery of projects aligned with regulatory requirements (e.g., Basel III, FRTB, CCAR).
- Manage technical debt, prioritize backlogs, and ensure timely delivery of features and enhancements.
- Foster a culture of innovation, continuous improvement, and engineering excellence.
Required Qualifications:
- 7+ years of project or product management experience within financial technology domain
- Deep understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC), agile methodologies, and DevOps practices.
- Proficiency in Agile development process
- Software development experience in large scale application, ideally focused on financial risk technologies
- Bilingual in Japanese and English
- Excellent communication skills
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Strong background in financial services, particularly in market risk, counterparty credit risk, or risk analytics.
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) is highly preferred.
