As a Payments Operations Vice President in the Payments Operations team, you will lead the local team, overseeing strategic direction, innovation, risk management, and regulatory compliance. This role requires a visionary leader focused on operational excellence, fostering innovation, and maintaining compliance. You'll play a pivotal role in shaping the future of payments operations in Japan, aligning with global strategies and local market needs.
The Payments Operations team is at the forefront of innovation, driving strategic projects and changes. You'll collaborate with cross-functional teams, including technology, finance, and compliance, to ensure seamless operations. Build strong relationships with stakeholders and represent the company in discussions related to payments operations.
Job Responsibilities:
  • Lead the Japan Payments operations team for flawless execution.
  • Provide leadership on local clearing and settlement requirements and ensure operations deliverables are met with a focus on control and client satisfaction.
  • Communicate status updates and provide KPIs to senior management.
  • Foster innovation and continuous improvement within the team.
  • Promote cross-functional collaboration for diverse perspectives and solutions.
  • Implement automation and AI-driven solutions for efficiency.
  • Mentor and develop a high-performing team in a collaborative environment.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory changes in Japan and liaise with regulatory bodies.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams for seamless operations.
  • Manage stakeholder relationships with local and regional partners.
  • Focus on risk and controls, consulting with compliance partners.

Required Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills:
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Minimum 8 years of experience within the Financial Services Industry
  • Strong understanding of Payments and Transaction Banking industry with knowledge of payments clearing and products like FXYCS, Zengin, SWIFT, FX.
  • Proven track record in senior management roles, ideally with regional exposure.
  • Experience partnering with offshore teams for Japan Payments Operations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for diverse stakeholder collaboration.
  • Business proficiency in both Japanese and English
  • Leadership capabilities to inspire and motivate teams.
  • Organizational and time management skills in a fast-paced environment.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to synthesize information.
  • Experience in large-scale transformation implementation.

  • Experience in leading large teams in Payments or related fields.
  • Ability to build a strong talent pipeline and develop leaders.
  • Experience in driving strategic, local, and regional projects.
