Position Description: Cybersecurity Specialist - Information Assurance II

In Support of CPE Ground

Location: Fort Belvoir, VA

Security Clearance: Secret

Education Required: Bachelor’s Degree in Cyber Security, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related scientific or technical discipline.

Certifications Required: Minimum of one of the following: CISSP, CISM, CAP, CeH, or equivalent certifications.

Salary: 120K-160K Annual; Commensurate with Education / Experience

Position Overview

The Information Assurance II role is responsible for ensuring the security and integrity of information systems within the Department of Defense (DoD) cybersecurity framework. Candidates will leverage their extensive experience in cybersecurity authorization and engineering activities to support critical security initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Cybersecurity Support: Provide Information Assurance (IA) architecture support, including certification and accreditation processes. Assist with security scans and other testing events to maintain compliance with DoD standards.
  • IA Design and Implementation: Collaborate with engineering teams to design and implement security measures in areas such as identity and access management, cyber situational awareness, and Public Key Infrastructure (PKI).
  • Compliance and Documentation: Ensure compliance with the Federal Information Security Management Act (FISMA) and DoD/Army Policies and Regulations. Prepare necessary documentation for network Authorization Officials (AOs) to grant Authority to Operate (ATO).
  • Monitoring and Reporting: Conduct information assurance and cybersecurity monitoring. Review and report findings to ensure compliance, including developing and maintaining Plans of Action and Milestones (POA&M) in line with Risk Management Framework (RMF) continuous monitoring processes.

Qualifications

  • Experience:
    • A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in DoD cybersecurity authorization or engineering.
    • Familiarity with DoD and Army Cybersecurity Policies, Regulations, and Authorization processes, including planning and executing test events.
  • Education Substitution: A Bachelor’s degree may be substituted with an additional 5 years of related Information Assurance experience, along with any required certifications (CISSP, CISM, CAP, CeH).

Skills Required

  • Active Secret security clearance
  • Bachelor's degree in Cyber Security, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related technical discipline (or substitution: additional 5 years IA experience)
  • Minimum of one certification: CISSP, CISM, CAP, CeH, or equivalent
  • Minimum 5 years relevant DoD cybersecurity authorization or engineering experience
  • Familiarity with DoD and Army cybersecurity policies, regulations, and authorization (RMF/ATO) processes
  • Experience with Plans of Action and Milestones (POA&M) and continuous monitoring
  • Experience designing and implementing identity and access management and PKI solutions
  • Experience performing security scans, testing events, monitoring, and reporting findings
