OVERVIEW
Big G Cereal is home to some of General Mills’ most iconic and exciting brands.
This Technologist role will specifically support the Family Favorites Business Unit (FFBU), working across Kid cereal brands, Cereal Innovation—including Growth Acceleration into new spaces—and Emerging cereal brands.
This role will provide broad technical support across the FFBU team and work closely with other developers to bring ideas from early-stage concepts through commercialization. Key responsibilities will include driving prototyping, laboratory experimentation, pilot plant learning, scale-up, and commercialization activities, along with systems setup and specification management.
This role offers the opportunity to contribute across a diverse portfolio while building strong partnerships with developers and cross-functional teams across FFBU.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Support product R&D across the Big G Family Favorites Business Unit (FFBU). This includes support of product development in Kid Cereal, Emerging Brands, as well as exploration into Innovation spaces outside of box cereal. This role will lead and own portions of work of projects across these spaces.
- Design, coordinate, execute and document experiments across benchtop, pilot plant and full scale manufacturing. This includes prototyping, experimental design, analyzing experimental data to draw insights, and strong documentation.
- Capable of learning equipment and technology across multiple technical platforms.
- Safely operate equipment, understand food safety requirements and ability to perform risk assessments
- Basic product formulation.
- Support product evaluations and consumer learning.
- Create product formulations, specifications, and documentation in General Mills (GMI) systems
- Actively participate in pipeline building activities and leverage the power of the prototype to bring early ideas and feasibility to life.
- Leverage Digital Tools and Digital Ways of Working to drive faster insights and connected learning
- Communication and collaboration with internal & external team members
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- 2-Year Degree or High School Degree with 2+ years of directly relatable experience
- Demonstrated strong technical and problem-solving skills.
- Comfortable in a lab, pilot plant and manufacturing environment. Direct experience working in one or more of these settings is preferred.
- Strong organizational, documentation and project management skills. Ability to manage multiple projects at a time
- Ability to work independently and with a team.
- High level of learning agility. Willingness and interest to ask questions, learn in new spaces and apply learnings to day-to-day work
- Effective communicator, across various audiences
- High attention to detail, with a methodical approach to tackling technical challenges.
- Bias for action and ability to advance projects with speed & accuracy
- Basic understanding of food safety and human safety
- Proficient computer skills
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Previous work experience in a similar field (Laboratory experience, Product Development and/or Manufacturing environment.)
- Cereal process and manufacturing expertise
- Passionate around the creation of food, the CPG industry and consumer trends.

SALARY RANGE
The salary range for this position is:
$51,300 - $70,700 AnnualAt General Mills we strive for each employee's pay at any point in their career to reflect their experiences performance and skills for their current role. The salary range for this role represents the numerous factors considered in the hiring decisions including, but not limited to, educations, skills, work experience, certifications, etc. As such, pay for the successful candidate(s) could fall anywhere within the stated range.
