Job Summary
This position is responsible for assisting with multiple daily duties related to item processing including ensuring check information is valid, reconciling branch daily work, transmitting settlement files, balancing end of day reports, and providing communication to branch locations when necessary.
Essential Functions
- Key rejected MICR information to ensure dollar amounts, serial numbers, accounts, and routing numbers are all correct on checks, deposit tickets, withdrawals, cash tickets, and other records of bank transactions.
- Reconcile branch capture transactions and reach out to Dacotah Bank locations when necessary.
- Print and mail adjustment letters to customers with clear communication of discrepancies.
- Print and sort customer notices and deliver to various departments for mailing.
- Review incoming files to ensure check images are legible, balanced, and not suspicious of fraud.
- Process on-us checks for all branch locations and ensure end of day reports balance for processing.
- Process the outgoing cash letter for transit items.
- Process Canadian items and charge corresponding fees.
- Receive telephone and email inquiries from internal staff regarding customer and bank related questions and provide a timely answer.
- Verify signatures on large dollar checks.
- Process overdrafts and perform NSF returns.
- Key general ledger descriptions.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Education & Experience
- Good verbal and written skills that are either face-to-face, over telephone with customers and co-workers, or by email.
- Detail oriented and able to perform various bookkeeping skills.
- Good typing and spreadsheet processing skills with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word.
- Good knowledge of computer system utilized to process banking transactions.
- Ability to work under short time frames and deadlines for completion of work.
Schedule hours: Looking for someone with availability to work 20-25 hours per week, with potential for full-time hours in the summer. Required coverage is from 2:30pm-6:30pm and additional hours may be flexible based on availability.
