The Role
GeneDx is a patient-centered technology company seeking an IT Systems Engineering Lead to manage IT systems including but not limited to ServiceNow and other SaaS Applications, Microsoft M365 Solutions, Microsoft Entra ID, patching endpoints, endpoint policy configuration, and DLPs (Data Loss Prevention) configurations.
The IT Systems Engineering Lead reports to the Head of IT Services and provides business-centric value to IT service capabilities by supporting and leading individual contributors on the IT Systems Engineering team.
In this role, you will support individual contributors in our IT organization. You will partner closely with Lab Operations, Human Resources, Product, and other teams to develop and optimize IT systems to support our shared organizational key results.
This role will be accountable for cultivating a highly efficient IT Systems Engineering team, emphasizing precise documentation, effective project management, timely support of service requests, continuous improvement of user experience, and advancing system automations.
Experience, Traits, and Skills
- Over 5 years of IT experience with 2+ years of managerial experience
- Experience leading highly skilled SaaS engineers responsible for ITSM (ServiceNow), enhancing system reliability, improving user experience, automating processes and ticket management.
- Extensive knowledge leading a M365 engineering team responsible for with Microsoft Azure's Identity Access Management (IAM) products including Conditional Access policies, Microsoft Data Loss Prevention (DLP), Entra ID, and Microsoft Defender Suite.
- Knowledgeable in scripting and code reviewing in PowerShell and Bash and storing scripts in shared repositories.
- Comfortable with multi forest Microsoft Active Directory, Microsoft Azure Active Directory in hybrid environments, and OpenLDAP integrations.
- Experience with HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability) and/or HITRUST environments.
- Proven skill in clearly conveying technical and business challenges and solutions to diverse audiences, both within and outside the organization.
The Responsibilities
- Set performance goals, conduct regular performance evaluations, and provide technical guidance and support for our IT System Engineering team of 10 or fewer engineers members ensuring strong team
- Oversee projects by utilizing Jira to track tasks, progress, and milestones, and Confluence for documentation and team collaboration, ensuring all work is accurately recorded and kept current.
- Proactively collaborate with colleagues and other stakeholders to perform process improvements, software and hardware testing, technical feedback, and assistance with documentation.
- Advocate for the benefits of a self-service first approach and crowd-sourced support while ensuring all work in progress via Jira and/or ServiceNow is completed promptly.
- Collaborate with Security and Compliance teams to ensure all Identity and Access Management governance, procedures, and support practices meet applicable standards and support audit activities.
- Manage M365 collaboration services with the team, ensuring security and compliance settings/configurations are upheld, while collaborating with other teams to enhance usability and functionality
The Objectives
- Implement device-based compliance policies for both Mac and Windows devices and enforce conditional access policies within 60 days.
- Lead and coordinate three automations using ServiceNow iHub and Intune to fully automate the process from account creation to third-party application installation within 90 days.
- Establish SLAs (Service Level Agreements) for the IT Systems Engineering Team, streamline ticket workflows by standardizing at least 5 types of tickets, document processes and procedures, and enable the service desk team to manage these standardized tickets within 90 days.
