The Opportunity

As an IT Systems Analyst Senior for Auto Policy Core Systems, you will get to participate in a group of Analysts in the Auto insurance domain working on high-priority work related to managing price and product, compliance and regulatory, distribution and service, and underwriting. You will work with business partners, engineers and analysts to elicit requirements, analyze, size, perform high-level design and plan technical work for multiple execution trains ahead of each program increment. The trains consist of roughly 12+ agile teams working in legacy system (mainframe) technologies for the systems that support the current Auto book of business.

As a dedicated IT Systems Analyst Senior, you will provide liaising services between business and IT delivery functions for the purpose of enabling the on-boarding, enhancement and support of systems, applications and other technology solutions. You will assess evolving business requirements to include establishing, evaluating and validating technical requirements. You will recommend alternatives and/or enhancements to existing technology solutions. You will also research and help resolve production issues and defects.

We offer a flexible work environment that requires an individual to be in the office 4 days per week. This position can be based in one of the following locations: San Antonio, TX, Plano, TX or Phoenix, AZ. Relocation assistance is not available for this position.

What you'll do:

  • Serves as a SME for business topics for multiple IT delivery functions.
  • Serves as a conduit between IT delivery functions and the business functions through which their technical requirements flow.
  • Employs creativity, ingenuity, and innovation in the search for technology solutions designed to support analyses and business need.
  • Proactively communicates and collaborates with customers on the analysis of business needs and requirements to deliver solution artifacts as needed.
  • Leads analysis and verification of technical requirements for completeness, consistency, comprehensibility, feasibility, and conformance to standards.
  • Leads traceability of approved and base lined artifacts through the software development life cycle to include specifications, design, development, testing, implementation and defect prioritization.
  • Provides guidance and review of test artifacts to ensure coverage of testable requirements.
  • rovides certification and actively participates in defect management activities to confirm requirements are being met.
  • Contributes to project successes by partnering with Program Management to understand program plans and strategy.
  • Ensures risks associated with business activities are effectively identified, measured, monitored, and controlled in accordance with risk and compliance policies and procedures.

What you have:

  • Bachelor's Degree; OR 4 years of related experience (in addition to the minimum years of experience required) may be substituted in lieu of degree.
  • 6 years of related work experience such as business and/or project management, business/system requirements, and technical analysis.
  • Advanced knowledge of multiple software delivery life cycles (Waterfall and Agile).
  • Advanced working knowledge of business productivity products, tools and applications.
  • Advanced understanding of system architecture and knowledge of software development concepts.
  • Experience of modeling techniques (e.g.UML) and use case development as well as experience with one or more software development frameworks.

What sets you apart:

  • 3+ years' experience in a systems analyst, business analyst or developer/software engineer role
  • 2+ years' experience supporting teams working on legacy system technologies (i.e. host/mainframe)
  • 2+ years experience working on insurance products, preferably P&C Auto insurance domain
  • Solid experience working in agile practices
  • Problem-solving abilities with an analytical mindset
  • US military experience through military service or a military spouse/domestic partner

Compensation: USAA has an effective process for assessing market data and establishing ranges to ensure we remain competitive. You are paid within the salary range based on your experience and market data of the position. The actual salary for this role may vary by location. The salary range for this position is: $99,160 - $189,530

Employees may be eligible for pay incentives based on overall corporate and individual performance and at the discretion of the USAA Board of Directors.
