ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS- Provides technical support for all in-house and satellite locations, microcomputer systems, applications and peripheral devices. Meets with current and potential system users for the purpose of determining technical needs. Installs personal computers, printers and other devices.
- Organizes, plans and tests accurately operating systems and applications prior to installation. Installs operating systems and applications.
- Provides efficient help desk support as needed. Participates in on-call availability for off-hours support. Uses proper greeting while communicating via phone support documenting all user requests and resolutions.
- Analyzes error conditions that arise during live operation. Confers on a timely basis with vendors, manuals and other documentation to troubleshoot the best solutions. Takes ownership of problems while communicating effectively with the end user.
- Conducts parallel testing to analyze and improve end user production efficiency.
- Evaluates current resources and determines technical solutions. Researches all knowledge bases to determine probable causes while documenting solutions to peers.
- Monitors the request for service board and independently opens work orders to solve technical problems. Utilizes established networking tools provided for troubleshooting issues.
- Escalates support as needed and timely to fully restore system functionality. Diagnoses and escalates system support when needed to the appropriate technical support personnel to resolve issues more efficiently. Documents accurately all tasks performed to rectify the given situation prior to second level support escalation. Assists in the communication of system restoration with second level assistance and effective oral or written communication.
- Educates end users to conform to Information Services policies for acceptable hardware or software in organization.
- Trains end users in the use of new hardware and/or software. Advises, instructs, or acquaints system end users in the use of their hardware, software, applications and operating system.
- Performs other duties as assigned and possesses a willingness to adapt to changing department demands.
