About the Role:(As an IT Engineer, you will provide technical and operational support across end-user systems, infrastructure, and business applications. You will ensure stable, secure, and compliant IT operations aligned with Thermo Fisher Scientific’s global standards.
What You'll Do:Serve as an IT support representative for Brisbane sites for all site IT-related services which include End User Support, Infrastructure Support and Business Applications.
Serve as the interface between global IT and business units to ensure collaboration and coordination between all stakeholders and implement global IT computing solution standards to the sites.
Support employees with software and hardware issues e.g. Microsoft Office, printers, mobile and other end users computing (EUC) business applications and diagnose PC / Hardware faults and its solutions as required.
Ensure systems are equipped with software for backups and cyber security to ensure data is backed up, systems are secure, protected and patched per company standards.
Perform procurement of computers and peripherals and oversee system life-cycle management at the sites to ensure systems are replaced or upgraded in a timely manner to ensure continuous system stability and support.
Collaborate with Global IT and vendors to quickly resolve IT system issues (major incidents or critical system failures), minimizing business impact, maintaining system availability and reliability.
Handle Incident and Request tickets through the ServiceNow system, ensuring compliance with priorities and SLA requirements.
Ensure new hires are provided with the required hardware on time before the new hires on board.
Work and coordinate with Global IT teams (Network, Servers, Backup, Disaster Recovery, AV, Printing etc) and vendors to review and resolve system issues in a timely and quick manner to minimize business impact and maintain system availability and reliability.
Support local facility team for IT server rooms and communication rooms according to the IT standards.
Support IT projects, ensuring timely delivery and adoption of new digital technologies.
Suggest and implement improvements (PPI) to systems, processes, hardware, and software to improve security, system capabilities and business operations.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Ensure availability of global business applications (e.g., Trackwise, eDMS, SFLMS etc) and support business team by escalating Incident and Request tickets for business applications.
Support deployment of local systems and its peripherals (Label Printers, Scanners etc).
Diploma or bachelor’s degree in information technology or computer science, or equivalent.
Minimum 2 years’ experience in IT Site Support (desk side), ideally in manufacturing or regulated environments (e.g., pharma, banking, logistics).
Relevant technical certificates (Windows, Network, Application, IT Project Management) is a plus.
Strong knowledge of Windows and Office 365 environments.
Practical understanding of LAN/WAN, VPN, and server management.
Familiarity with ServiceNow or equivalent ITSM tools.
Understanding of cybersecurity best practices and endpoint protection.
Ability to interact professionally with a diverse group e.g., executives, managers.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
Analytical and problem-solving mindset with strong ownership.
Ability to work independently and prioritize multiple tasks.
Occasional off-hours support (on call support)

- Tertiary education in Information Technology, Engineering, Computer Science or related field
- 2-4 years of IT support or similar technical role experience
- Windows platform administration and troubleshooting
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 and cloud-based applications
- Experience managing incidents, service requests, and change requests using ServiceNow
- Experience with mobile platforms and iOS device management
- Advanced knowledge of networks, VPN configurations, and connectivity solutions
- Experience in server management and virtualization technologies
- Experience with SCADA systems and automation infrastructure
- Knowledge of laboratory information management systems (LIMS)
- IT asset management and inventory control experience
