Element is seeking a motivated IT Intern to support our organization's internal IT operations. This 12 week internship provides hands-on experience in internal IT support, systems administration, and the development of custom tools and processes to support a growing small business digital service firm. You will gain experience developing, improving, and implementing internal IT workflows, automated tools, and procedures using modern cloud service platforms such as Google Cloud Platform and Amazon Web Services.
Key Responsibilities
Provide internal IT support to staff, troubleshooting hardware, software, and service issues.
Analyze current internal IT workflows and systems to identify areas for process improvement.
Develop tools and scripts to automate routine IT resource management and provisioning tasks.
Assist with the administration and configuration of devices using MDM and cloud platforms such as Mosyle, Microsoft Intune, AWS, and GCP.
Assist in setting up monitoring and alerting for internal systems to ensure high availability.
Create and maintain detailed documentation for IT systems, setups, and user troubleshooting guides.
Assist in tracking and documenting internal IT assets, hardware, and software licenses.
Prepare summary reports on IT support trends, tool performance, and recommendations for future roadmaps.
Work with our security team to address internal system security issues and respond to incidents.
Minimum Requirements
Currently pursuing a degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related technical field within a university in the state of Maryland.
A minimum of 2.5 GPA.
A basic understanding of IT troubleshooting, operating systems (macOS preferred), and core IT principles.
Familiarity with scripting or programming languages (e.g., Python, Bash, PowerShell) for tool development.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
Detail-oriented with strong documentation skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
Ability to work 10–20 hours a week.
Ability to pass a background check.
US Citizenship or Permanent Residency required.
Must reside in the Continental US, preferably within the state of Maryland.
