The IT Technician will be based at one of three Amentum sites (Baghdad Embassy Compound, Baghdad Diplomatic Support Center, or Union III) in Iraq and serve the Operations and Maintenance Support Services (OMSS) and Baghdad Life Support Services (BLISS) contracts, under the direction of the Program Management Office (PMO), in support of the U.S. Department of State. This position will contribute to the daily operation of the site and support the work of all staff by setting up, maintaining, and assisting personal use of computers, printers, and computer networks and will, depending on location, report to the IT Supervisor, IT Manager, or Amentum IT Field Services (ITFS) department. The duties and responsibilities listed below are representative of the nature and level of work assigned and are not necessarily all inclusive.
DUTIES:
- Support and maintain the Amentum Iraq Embassy Program (IEP) Operational Network at all Iraq locations per ITFS directions.
- Provide help desk support to Amentum staff and subcontractors as required.
- Coordinate with Amentum corporate IT Helpdesk on new user account creation and maintenance.
- Accounts may include login, email, and access to Amentum Business Systems
- Maintain local user accounts as needed
- Maintain and troubleshoot Amentum Operational Network infrastructure, including routers, switches, and wireless devices.
- Perform computer imaging and deployment.
- Assist users with hardware and software configuration of computers and accessories.
- Install and document approved software and peripherals
- Assist with troubleshooting and repair of IT equipment (PCs, printers, and scanners, etc.).
- Provide local client support to Amentum business applications, including Maximo, Blackboard, Guest Tracker, Fleetmate and other systems.
- Provide additional assistance as needed to support requirements and directives.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED:
- Minimum Acceptable Experience Level:
- Two (2) years’ experience as a local area network (LAN) Systems administrator.
- Two (2) years’ experience debugging software and hardware, printers, and peripherals.
- Previous experience in an austere OCONUS environment with a multi-national work force.
- Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Proficient with Microsoft Office suite of products.
- Knowledge of how to use Internet and computer operating systems at an administrator level.
- Able to diagnose and repair hardware components and software applications.
- Able to build office networks.
- Able to troubleshoot and maintain copper and fiber optic network equipment
- Expertise in collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data and preparing daily reports and work orders.
- Knowledge of principles and processes involved in supporting IT-related functions at an overseas facility.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment that requires handling multiple tasks at a given time and rapidly adapting to changing priorities and schedules.
- Cross-cultural sensitivity with an international perspective.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Computer skills, specifically in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Ability to become an active and functioning member of a team.

- Education: Completion of a 2-year Technical School program in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field. Must have completed advanced training in Microsoft Office Professional software Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Access and Internet Explorer. Must be able to successfully complete a 5-day government Work Orders in Windows (WOW) training course as needed.
- Passport, Licenses and Certifications:
- As part of pre-contingency requirements, by the time the visa process starts, candidates must possess a valid passport of home country with a minimum of 18 months remaining to expiration date with 8 blank pages.
- Valid drivers’ license from Home of Record.
- CompTIA A+ (Plus) Certification (or higher)
- Security Vetting: Already possess a US Government issued security clearance or Moderate Risk Public Trust (MRPT) or be able to obtain a favorable MRPT certification or US Government clearance prior to being hired is required for the position. Must maintain eligibility at the required certification or clearance level for the duration of the contract.
- Language Skills: Satisfactory English proficiency to meet job requirements and to adhere and comply with safety, health, and security measures.
- Medical: Successfully complete and pass the medical and dental examinations as required by Amentum and our customer for deployment to Iraq. Must maintain physical and dental requirements for duration of deployment.
DESIRED:
- Technical certifications from Microsoft, CompTia and Cisco
- Previous out of home country experience is highly desirable and previous work experience in harsh environmental conditions is a plus.
- Experience working with Amentum / PAE.
WORKING AND LIVING CONDITIONS:
This position may be located in a war zone, in an environment with harsh and dangerous working and living conditions. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may regularly be exposed to extreme and austere desert-like environment. Temperatures can reach 120- 130 degrees Fahrenheit/50-55 degrees Celsius during the summer months. Employees must be willing and able to perform regular job requirements in this austere, extreme environment, as well as willing and able to deploy to Iraq for extended periods. Work schedules are a minimum of 6 days per week and 10 hours per day, while some jobs have higher daily and weekly minimums. Employees must be willing and able to perform physical activities including, but not limited to, heavy lifting and moving of items, parts, assemblies, and equipment up to the safety regulation maximum; climbing in and out of equipment; crawling; and working outdoors. This includes being able to lift and carry 40 pounds of personal protective equipment for extended periods of time and being capable of running and ‘duck & cover’ during emergencies without putting oneself or others at risk.
