IT Solution Architect

Job Description

This role involves aiding our IT functions, and our internal IT customers, in making strategic investments in IT solutions from the wide array of offerings within the SUSE IT portfolio, ultimately enabling all functions and people to get the very best outcomes from SUSE IT.

The perfect candidate will showcase their adeptness in both technical leadership

and deep knowledge of the SUSE Information Technology estate. This role will evolve into a relied-upon, trusted advisor, acting as a catalyst for change - generating new possibilities, overcoming challenges, and cultivating strong partnerships. 

Reporting to the Enterprise Architect, this role forms a vital part in developing the SUSE IT Architectural practice to new levels of impact and effectiveness. The role will also work in matrix with the Architecture Working Group - an excellent team of technical architects and engineers from all of our IT domains.

About The JobAssessment of business ideas

• Support assessment of business ideas, project scoping, feasibility analysis (systems-based or other), and presenting options fitting within either a strategic lens or a tactical lens. 

• Apply current technology, tools and techniques according to established standard practices. 

• Assist with the investigation and cataloging of functional and non-functional requirements, ensuring they align to the Outline Design and agreed scope.

• Challenging, where relevant, to ensure the requirements align to a ‘value’ driven approach. 

End-to-end Solution design

• Support the Enterprise Architecture in the development of the Outline Designs. 

• Being accountable for being the hands-on lead throughout the project life cycle, ensures: 

  • Produce end to end Solution designs and documentation, and take these through internal governance processes.

  • All solution designs meet agreed business requirements, align with Strategy and Architecture, it is cost effective, deliverable and supportable.

  • Supervise and review detailed designs produced by other resources, partners and third parties to ensure build and test deliver agreed levels of quality assurance. 

  • Technical leadership and assumes overall design accountability within a project to ensure.

About You

• Experience working as a Solution Architect across the software delivery lifecycle:

  • Requirements capture/definition/elaboration

  • Initial shaping/estimating activity

  • High level design of end to end solution

  • Oversight of application level designs and integrations

  • Support of testing activities

  • Support for implementation/cutover activities.

• Experience in leading end-to-end Solution design.

• Experience of being the technical lead with multiple teams and working in a matrix with other technical architects or engineers.

• A broad and balanced understanding of IT capabilities, methods and technologies.

• In-depth experience of the development of IT solutions.

• Passion for keeping up with IT trends.

• Knowledge of processes in relevant departments (e.g. Finance, Sales, Marketing, People, Legal, etc.)

It would be great if you also have

• Any experience in organizations whose core operations lie in software or sales. 

• Knowledge of open source technologies and communities.

• Knowledge of widely used core systems (e.g. SAP S/4HANA, Salesforce, Workday, Anaplan).

• Knowledge of Integration technologies – Full range of IaaS, PaaS, SaaS products including Amazon Web Services.
