Position Summary

We are seeking a motivated Software Engineer I to join our growing technology team in San José, Costa Rica.

This role is an excellent opportunity for recent graduates and early-career professionals looking to build a strong foundation in software development while working in a collaborative Agile environment. You will contribute to the design, development, testing, and support of business-critical applications while learning from experienced technology professionals.

What You'll Do

• Design, develop, test, and maintain software applications following coding standards and best practices.

• Collaborate with developers, quality assurance analysts, business analysts, and product owners throughout the software development lifecycle.

• Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, daily standups, retrospectives, and backlog refinement sessions.

• Translate business requirements and user stories into high-quality technical solutions.

• Perform code reviews and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

• Develop and execute unit tests to ensure application quality and reliability.

• Support application enhancements, upgrades, defect resolution, and production maintenance activities.

• Assist in troubleshooting and resolving technical issues.

• Contribute to technical documentation and knowledge-sharing initiatives.

• Stay current with emerging technologies, development frameworks, and industry best practices.

What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.

• 0 to 3 years of professional software development experience.

• Understanding of object-oriented programming concepts and software development fundamentals.

• Experience through coursework, internships, academic projects, or professional experience with one or more of the following technologies:

  • Java

  • Spring Boot

  • Angular

• Understanding of relational databases and SQL concepts.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

• Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.

• Intermediate English proficiency, both written and verbal.

Preferred Qualifications

• Internship or co-op experience in software development.

• Familiarity with Agile development methodologies.

• Experience using Git or other source control tools.

• Exposure to cloud technologies and modern development practices.

• Understanding of software testing principles and automation concepts.
