Reporting to the CIO, the IT Senior Director of Data and Analytics, will play a pivotal role in shaping and implementing data and analytics strategies to support business objectives across the pharmaceutical value chain. This leadership position requires a seasoned professional with extensive leadership and execution experience in IT, data management, and analytics within the pharmaceutical sector. The successful candidate will lead a team responsible for developing and maintaining an integrated data lake approach, with the required data infrastructure, engineering and architecture standards and outcomes, ensuring data quality and security, and leveraging advanced analytics to drive business insights. This role will require experience with the most recent developments in cloud and data technologies and leveraging AI and ML in analytics, and be curious and active in maintaining strong technical currency in these areas.


Responsibilities:


Strategy Development


Collaborate with executive leadership and business partners to define and execute the data and analytics strategy aligned with business goals


Identify opportunities to leverage data for competitive advantage and operational efficiency


Team Leadership


Manage and lead a high-performing team of data scientists, analysts, and IT professionals


Foster a collaborative and innovative work environment to drive excellence in data and analytics


Enterprise Data Infrastructure, Engineering and Architecture


Oversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of a robust and integrated enterprise capability, including a cloud-based data lake with supporting data infrastructure and systems


Ensure the scalability, reliability, and performance of data platforms


Data Governance and Security


Establish and enforce data governance policies to maintain data quality, integrity, and compliance


Implement robust data security measures to safeguard sensitive information


Analytics and Insights


Drive the development and deployment of advanced analytics, recommending appropriate state-of-the-art tools and techniques to accomplish outstanding data-driven results


Collaborate with business stakeholders to identify key metrics and deliver actionable insights


Cross-functional Collaboration


Work closely with other IT leaders, business units, and external partners to align data and analytics initiatives with overall business objectives


Facilitate communication and collaboration between IT and business teams


Vendor Management


Evaluate and manage relationships with third-party vendors and partners providing data and analytics solutions


Ensure that vendor solutions align with organizational requirements and standards


Continuous Improvement


Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in data and analytics


Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of data and analytics capabilities

 

Qualifications


Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field


10+ years of proven experience in a leadership role overseeing data and analytics functions in the pharmaceutical industry


Strong understanding of data management, data governance, and analytics technologies


Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills


Experience with regulatory requirements and compliance in the pharmaceutical sector is desirable


Familiarity with emerging technologies such as AI, machine learning, and big data analytics
