We are looking for a Senior IT Risk Expert / Platform Risk Engineer to strengthen the technology risk posture within our Wholesale Banking domain. This role is ideal for colleagues who enjoy working close to the platform, combining analytical depth, engineering awareness, and a strong risk mindset to help us stay within risk appetite while enabling secure and resilient operations.
You’ll work closely with engineers, POs, service teams, and risk specialists to ensure our controls are effective, our processes are embedded, and our squads are supported in making responsible decisions.
What You’ll Do- Monitor and analyze IT risk indicators, identifying trends, vulnerabilities, and areas of concern.
- Ensure control objectives are consistently met and contribute to maintaining risk within tolerance.
- Drive compliance with the ING Risk Management Framework, including maintenance of risk registers, profiles, and dashboards.
- Assess IT control design and operating effectiveness; recommend, track, and validate improvements.
- Support incident investigations, contributing to root‑cause analysis and remediation steps.
- Prepare and deliver risk‑awareness content (work instructions, demos, training materials).
- Assist with audits and evidence collection.
- Contribute to wider squad objectives (e.g., release management, incident process enhancements).
You will join the Wholesale Banking technology organization supporting one of our strategic platform domains. The team operates in an international setup, collaborating across squads to ensure operational excellence, resilience, and responsible engineering practices.
What You BringMust‑have experience
- 4+ years of demonstrated risk ownership and application of a strong risk mindset.
- 6+ years of analytical or investigative experience.
- Solid understanding of SDLC, deployment pipelines, and automation‑focused delivery.
- Practical understanding of BIA, detailed risk assessments, and control applicability.
- Expertise in key control areas: Change Management, Platform Security, Operational & Cyber Resilience, Security Monitoring, and IAM.
- Ability to coach engineers and communicate clearly with diverse stakeholders in an agile environment.
Nice to have
- Foundational knowledge of infrastructure, networking concepts, and protocols (e.g., cloud, servers, firewalls, XFB, FTP, EMS, MQ, HTTP).
- Experience with automation or scripting (Ansible, Python, Linux fundamentals, Azure).
- Knowledge of Payments or Account Reporting domains; familiarity with the ING risk model.
