The Role

The IT Project Manager II is responsible for providing project management services in the areas of Business Process Engineering and Technology Enablement across Precision Medicine Group businesses.  Responsibilities include management of IT application development, application validation, production application deployment and post launch support.  This position will require engagement with various stakeholders on multiple projects to manage identified workstreams and ensure proper communication between project team members, including internal and external clients.  This role is accountable for assuring the management and planning of assigned work are completed in compliance with Precision’s quality standards.  

Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related business program.  Project Management certification(s) desirable.

The ideal candidate will be skilled in the Clinical Laboratory space (understands assays, experience doing systems lifecycle for application development experience tied to instruments and data in a LAB)

Work Experience:

  • Minimum of 7 years experience working as a technical project manager
  • Minimum of 7 years experience managing cross functional project teams
  • Skills:
    • Ability to manage projects from inception to retirement
    • Must be able to manage cross functional project teams and adapt to a variety of business specific requirements
    • Detail oriented with the ability to anticipate development and quality issues
    • Ability to accurately estimate timelines and costs associated with system development life cycle milestones
    • Must have excellent interpersonal, verbal and written skills with the ability to multi-task
    • Ability to effectively communicate with both technical and non-technical individuals
    • Ability to read and interpret technical documents
    • Must be flexible on work hours

Essential Duties

  • Establish and govern a product development roadmap including strategic priorities for development of critical support functions for the Precision for Medicine business
  • Working with the business, implement a product data governance framework, with a focus on improvement of data quality and the protection of data through practice and eventual modification to organization behavior policies and standards, principles, governance metrics and processes.
  • Provide updates to a product governance comittee on product development progress as it related to established product development road maps
  • Establish/identify baseline metrics/key performance indicators (KPIs) for existing processes within the business and then report on efficiency gains from product enhancements delivered to the business.
  • Serve as a liaison between Business and Functional areas and technology to ensure that product related business requirements are clearly defined, communicated and well understood and considered as part of operational prioritization and planning.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of product development standards, data protection standards and product adoption requirements across the enterprise.
  • Define indicators of performance and quality metrics and ensure compliance with product usage standards, roles and responsibilities, and adoption requirements.
  • Provide progress reports to management and oversee periodic updates to the appropriate governance comittees and product development roadmaps.
  • Identify new business opportunities pertaining to the use of the product to achieve efficiency and effectiveness in the marketplace.
  • Strive to improve data quality and ensure adherence with quality regulations
  • Develop, maintain and manage resourced project plans in order to ensure on time and within budget delivery of IT systems
  • Provide functional management and coordination of project teams
  • Guide development teams through the system development life cycle and assure that all quality program artifacts are delivered on time, for each development milestone
  • Participate in the software development, documentation and support processes
  • Surface and report on project related issues and risks identified during the product development process to key stakeholders.
