The N.C. Department of Information Technology (NCDIT) serves as the Technology Center for the State of NC. Description of Work

Recruitment Range: Up to $95,500
The position is designated Statutory Exempt (EHRA) and is exempt from the State Human Resources Act.
This position may be eligible for hybrid remote work in accordance with state policy and the agency’s remote work program but does require weekly onsite work.

We currently have an opening for an IT Project Manager I.
The Project Manager position will work on IT projects for various State agencies in North Carolina. This position is instrumental in enabling our customers to make a difference in the lives of the people of the State. This position will be part of the NCDIT Project Management Office and will be responsible for leading moderately complex to more extensive IT project management work.
Key Responsibilities:
• Plan, direct and administer medium to large-scale information technology programs/projects
• Ensure that projects are performed in accordance with statewide and NC DIT standards and practices
• Ensure projects meet schedule, budget, quality, and deliverable goals
• Provide expected technical capabilities, business expertise to all the projects and to derive the desired business results
About the Division:
The Project Management Office (PMO) provides statewide technology solutions for state and local governments in North Carolina. Presently, PMO is divided into one operational service domain with the following business focal areas: Project Management Services – provides customers with experienced, Project Management Professional (PMP) certified, IT project managers for leading agency IT projects. The PM service utilizes a consistent approach for IT project management that is based upon the methods, techniques and best practices defined by the Project Management Institute (PMI) for IT project management. IT Project managers have experience in the areas of business case analysis, business process re-engineering, application development, and infrastructure development/deployment. This service domain has a Director, Manager or Team Leader who is responsible for the day-to-day operations and supervision of staff members. The Product Manager reports to the Director of the Project Management Office who is responsible for the overall leadership and management of the PMO.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences

The following Management Preferences are not required, but applicants that possess these skills are preferred:

Experience in managing IT projects ensuring projects are implemented on time, within budget and with expected results.

Certifications such as Project Management Professional (PMP), Agile Scrum Master.

• Demonstrated experience interacting with technical resources, business resources, vendor resources and leadership.

Minimum Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related IT field, Business Administration, Project Management or closely related degree from an appropriately accredited institution and three years of experience in IT project management or technical project management related work; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
