Join Lonza's Global Infrastructure team as an IT/OT Automation Engineer, where you will play a key role in driving the automation strategy across IT and Operational Technology (OT) environments. This position offers the opportunity to design, implement, and manage enterprise-scale automation platforms, enabling secure, compliant, and standardized infrastructure operations across Lonza's global manufacturing network.
This is an office-first role. Working together in person supports close, real-time collaboration and team alignment, enabling us to deliver our best work. You will work primarily in the office, with the flexibility to work remotely for 20% of your time (one day per week).

What you will do- Design, implement, and maintain an enterprise automation platform based on Ansible technologies (AAP, AWX) to support IT and OT environments globally.
- Develop, test, and deploy reusable automation playbooks, roles, and modules that enable standardized, secure, and scalable infrastructure operations.
- Partner with business, infrastructure, quality, OT, and cybersecurity stakeholders to identify, prioritize, and deliver automation use cases that generate measurable business value.
- Lead the end-to-end lifecycle of the automation platform, including architecture definition, implementation, validation, testing, operational readiness, and continuous improvement.
- Act as the System Owner for the automation platform, ensuring compliance with Lonza governance standards, GxP requirements, cybersecurity policies, and lifecycle management processes.
- Integrate automation solutions with ServiceNow, Git, GitLab CI/CD, monitoring platforms, and other enterprise systems to support efficient and reliable operations.
- Create and maintain technical documentation, operational procedures, architecture standards, and validation records in accordance with Good Documentation Practices (GDP).
- Define, monitor, and report KPIs, SLAs, and compliance metrics to ensure service quality and operational excellence.
- Support incident, problem, and change management activities, ensuring adherence to ITSM processes and regulatory requirements.
- Provide technical leadership, coaching, and guidance to internal teams and external service providers on automation frameworks, Infrastructure as Code methodologies, and best practices.
- Ensure compliance with cybersecurity, data integrity, audit, and regulatory standards, including GAMP5, 21 CFR Part 11, and internal quality requirements.
- Drive automation adoption and upskill infrastructure teams to develop and support automation solutions within their respective technology domains.
- Proven experience designing, implementing, and supporting infrastructure automation solutions using Ansible Automation Platform (AAP), AWX, or related technologies.
- Strong hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC), configuration management, automation frameworks, and enterprise infrastructure environments.
- Experience integrating automation platforms with ITSM solutions such as ServiceNow, version control systems such as Git, and CI/CD platforms such as GitLab.
- Strong understanding of IT infrastructure technologies including servers, virtualization, networking, operating systems, cloud platforms, and OT environments.
- Experience operating within regulated industries and familiarity with GxP, GAMP5, 21 CFR Part 11, validation methodologies, and audit requirements.
- Knowledge of cybersecurity principles, secure automation practices, identity and access management, and compliance frameworks.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions.
- Experience working with global stakeholders, third-party vendors, and managed service providers in a complex enterprise environment.
- Bachelor's degree in information technology, Computer Science, Engineering, Automation Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and collaboration skills with the ability to influence technical and non-technical audiences.
