Leidos, under the DEIM division, currently has an exciting opportunity for an IT Operations Manager to support the Defense Media Activity. The Operations Manager will lead the infrastructure, network, and domain operations across the enterprise, leading a hybrid on-site and remote team of system administrators and engineers. This is a critical role supporting customer operations.
**This role requires the candidate to be on-site in Fort Meade, MD 4 days a week**
**Clearance: Must be able to obtain a Secret clearance; an Interim Secret clearance is required to start (U.S. Citizen required)**
Primary Responsibilities:
Manage a team of 10-15 analysts, administrators, and engineers to deliver high-quality technical support for multiple enterprise-scale DoD customers.
Provide support with managing timesheets, ticket queues, team dynamics, and onboarding/offboarding processes.
Mentor employees on effective communication, accountability, and morale-building strategies.
Oversee resource performance through coaching, clear communication, and conduct performance reviews.
Ensure team adherence to established SLAs, KPIs, and ITIL processes to maintain contractual compliance.
Identify operational problem areas and collaborate with the team, senior leadership, and customer(s) to resolve issues and implement improvements.
Develop and propose implementation plans to prepare existing and future staff for handling a diverse mix of technical work from the DoD customer(s).
Ensure all staff members have defined training and career progression trajectories to support professional growth.
Maintain positive and proactive engagement with DoD customers to address and resolve issues or challenges, including appropriate escalation when necessary.
Develop and communicate effective approaches to the technical team, customers, and senior leadership to align on goals and solutions.
Utilize DoD-specific tools, systems, or compliance standards (e.g., RMF, NIST).
Basic Qualifications:
BA/BS or equivalent experience and 5+ years or prior relevant experience or Masters with 3+ years of prior relevant experience.
Must have an current 8570 or 8140 certification (Security+ etc.)
2-3 years providing support with full or partially remote IT operations support teams.
Able to manage teams with changing priorities.
Able to manage conflicts between technical and business requirements, communicating effectively to develop solutions.
Working technical knowledge of Hyper-Converged Infrastructure, MS Office 365, MS Domain services, enterprise networking, MS Server infrastructure, and data center best practices.
Comfortable leading and working with technical team members (from Jr level resources to SMEs), identifying and removing roadblocks.
Able to apply logical thinking and problem-solving skills.
Able to work in a team environment as well as independently.
Able to readily and easily switch gears in response to unexpected events and circumstances.
Skilled in excellent oral/written and interpersonal communication.
Knowledgeable in identifying, initiating, managing, and prioritizing multiple tasks.
Preferred Qualifications:
Certifications such as PMP, ITIL Foundation, or 8140 industry specific certifications.
Prior experience of DoD contracts involving enterprise technical support.
Hands-on or managerial experience with Nutanix hyperconverged infrastructure (HCI), including AHV virtualization, AOS storage, and Nutanix-based disaster recovery solutions.
Extensive knowledge of Windows Server operating systems, Active Directory, and enterprise Windows environments in mission-critical settings.
Experience supporting Unix/Linux systems, including administration, scripting, and integration in enterprise environments.
Strong background in enterprise networking concepts, including LAN/WAN design, routing/switching, firewalls, and network security best practices.
Proven expertise in disaster recovery (DR) planning, execution, and testing, including replication strategies, failover/failback procedures, and business continuity.
Familiarity with database technologies and administration (e.g., Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, or similar enterprise databases), including backup/recovery, performance tuning, and high-availability configurations.
