What you will do:
Although this position is primarily remote, on occasion you will need to work from the Cineplex office at 1303 Yonge Street, Toronto (Yonge and St. Clair), so living within commuting distance will be necessary.
The department provides support 24/7/365, so shifts will cover business hours, overnights, weekends and holidays in a 2-month rotational basis.
The IT Helpdesk Specialist role is responsible for providing day-to-day helpdesk support including all Level 1 escalations, problems & requests for our Cineplex ecosystem.
Key Responsibilities
- Provides first level IT Support for Hardware & Software issues across all Cineplex LOB’s. Utilizes Helpdesk application to triage and manage all inbound incidents (Phone, IM, Email) – prioritizing and assessing urgency to incidents as necessary; personally, resolving issues that can be handled by Level 1 staff and handling escalated, more complex issues from other staff as required.
- Proactively monitor and support components of the Cineplex Systems Infrastructure.
- Participates and provides ideas for the department’s continuous improvement initiatives
- Aids in resolving Helpdesk issues and documents solutions as needed, in Helpdesk support articles for the company Knowledgebase
- Participate in any projects and duties as assigned by IT Management.
Education and Certification
- A degree in a relevant area of study with a preference for Computer Science/Information Technology together with demonstrated operational systems and network related experience.
- Industry certifications such as MCSE, CISSP, MCITP, and/or A+ certification are considered strong assets.
- ITIL V3 Certificate in IT Service Management
Experience:
- Experience with MS Vista POS Software or general retail POS systems would be a significant asset
- 1-3 years of IT related, Help Desk Support
- Customer service experience demonstrating application functionality
- Demonstrated work experience in a Desktop Support capacity is expected
- Strong experience with MS Office support is expected
- Experience with Windows and Mac OS is expected
- Experience with Ubuntu Linux
