About the Company
Established in 2014, Gridworks is a leading EPC contractor for utility-scale solar and battery storage projects. Primarily operating across the Southwest, we are expanding into other regions. With nearly 2 GW of solar and battery energy storage projects, we are well positioned for continued success in the rapidly growing clean energy sector.
Summary Description:
We're looking for an IT Generalist to join our Information Technology team. Someone comfortable wearing several hats, who enjoys variety and wants to grow across networking, systems, and security. This is not a single-lane or pure helpdesk role. It's a great fit for someone past the entry-level stage, with a year or two of hands-on experience, or a recent graduate in IT, computer science, or a related field with practical exposure and a readiness to broaden their scope. We care more about aptitude, curiosity, and reliability than certifications. If you like figuring out why something broke and want to keep leveling up, we'll invest in your development.
Much of our security and monitoring is backed by managed services (MDR, RMM, email threat protection), so you'll be the hands-on owner of that stack rather than building from scratch. It's a strong environment to learn in, with guardrails.
Primary Responsibilities- Provide day-to-day support to end users across the company, including office and field/job-site staff troubleshooting hardware, software, accounts, and connectivity issues.
- Help manage and maintain our network environment, including Ubiquiti gateways, switches, and access points, and our Starlink-connected sites.
- Operate our remote monitoring and management (RMM) platform, including patching, device health, deployments, and alert triage.
- Be a first responder for our managed security stack: review and action alerts from our MDR provider and email threat protection platform, and escalate appropriately.
- Administer Microsoft 365 and related identity/endpoint tooling for user accounts, licensing, and access.
- Support onboarding and offboarding by provisioning devices and accounts, and reclaiming them cleanly.
- Document configurations, processes, and fixes so the team builds shared, reusable knowledge.
- Take on “other duties as assigned” — on a small team, the work is genuinely varied, and your scope will grow with your skills.
- A working understanding of networking fundamentals (IP addressing, NAT, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, and basic routing) and the confidence to reason through a connectivity problem rather than just reboot and hope.
- Comfort working with firewalls and network gear (we use Fortinet and Ubiquiti); you don’t need our specific vendor experience, but you should be able to learn it quickly.
- Familiarity with Windows environments and Microsoft 365 from a support or admin standpoint.
- Solid troubleshooting instincts and a methodical approach to diagnosing problems.
- Clear communication and patience with non-technical users.
- Reliability, discretion, and good judgment — you’ll have access to sensitive systems.
- Education in IT, computer science, or a related field (completed or in progress), or equivalent hands-on experience.
Nice-to-haves (not required — bonus if you have them)
- Exposure to Starlink or other satellite/cellular connectivity and its quirks (CGNAT, failover, latency).
- Experience with an RMM tool, endpoint protection, or email security platforms.
- Any networking or security certifications (e.g., CompTIA Network+ or Security+) are welcome, but we don't gate on them.
- Scripting or automation curiosity (PowerShell, etc.).
- Experience supporting a distributed or field-based workforce.
Please note this job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job. Duties, responsibilities, and activities may change at any time with or without notice.
