The IT Financial Analyst is responsible for Collaborate with IT cost center and finance teams to develop and maintain financial models, forecasts, and budgets for IT projects and initiatives. Analyze and track IT expenses, including hardware, software, licensing, maintenance, and vendor contracts, ensuring adherence to budgetary guidelines. Monitor and evaluate IT financial performance, identifying cost-saving opportunities, and recommending strategies to optimize IT investments. IT FMO allows for growth in the company and provides tools for learning in the field.
This position is part of the IT Financial Management Office (IT FMO) and will be located onsite in Sunnyvale, California. At Cepheid, our vision is to be the leading provider of seamlessly connected diagnostic solutions.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

Collaborate with IT cost center and finance teams to develop and maintain financial models, forecasts, and budgets for IT projects and initiatives. Analyze and track IT expenses, including hardware, software, licensing, maintenance, and vendor contracts, ensuring adherence to budgetary guidelines. Monitor and evaluate IT financial performance, identifying cost-saving opportunities, and recommending strategies to optimize IT investments.

Support the monthly Risk & Opportunity review with all IT cost center owners and provide analysis. Conduct financial analyses, such as ROI (Return on Investment), TCO (Total Cost of Ownership), and business case evaluations, to support IT decision-making processes. Provide financial insights and recommendations to IT leaders and business stakeholders, helping them make informed decisions regarding IT investments.

Work closely with accounting partners to resolve questions & issues as part of the period close process. Assist in the development and implementation of IT financial policies, procedures, and controls, ensuring compliance with financial regulations and best practices. Collaborate with procurement and vendor management teams to negotiate favorable terms and conditions for IT contracts and agreements.

Participate in IT budgeting and forecasting processes, providing accurate and reliable financial data and analysis. Prepare and present comprehensive financial reports, including variance analysis, cost-benefit analysis, and financial performance metrics, to senior management and stakeholders.

Prepare monthly financial reports, metrics, and variance analyses for Technology leadership including budgeting, forecasting, and recommendations for remediation where neededStay updated on emerging technologies and industry trends, assessing their potential financial impact on the organization and recommending appropriate courses of action.
The essential requirements of the job include:

Bachelor’s degree with 5+ years of relevant work experience OR MBA or Master’s degree in advanced Finance, Accounting, Engineering or related field.

Superior skills in communications, change management, and effective cross-functional teamwork on a global scale. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically and strategically. Professional certifications such as CPA (Certified Public Accountant) are a plus.

5+ years of experience in Financial Planning, and Analysis & Reporting, Proven experience as a Financial Analyst, preferably in the technology or IT services industry. Strong understanding of financial principles and IT concepts, with the ability to analyze the financial implications of technology investments. Proficiency in financial modeling, forecasting techniques, and data analysis tools.

Knowledge of IT cost management methodologies, such as ITIL (Information Technology Infrastructure Library) or TBM (Technology Business Management). Familiarity with IT budgeting, procurement, and vendor management processes. Excellent analytical and quantitative skills, with the ability to interpret complex financial data and provide actionable insights.

Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial management software. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to present financial information in a clear and concise manner. Ability to work effectively in a team environment and collaborate with stakeholders at various levels.
The salary range for this role is $100-$140K. This is the range that we in good faith believe is the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future.
This job is also eligible for bonus/incentive pay.
