We are seeking an IT Enterprise Application Architect with expertise in Application Architecture to join our dynamic team. As an Application Architect, you will be responsible for designing, governing and maintaining the application strategy for Smithfield’s application portfolio. You will align software solutions with business goals, design secure, scalable architecture and ensure technological standards are followed across the enterprise. This role provides architectural leadership across the application portfolio, drives application rationalization, plans for reduction of technical debt, and serves as a strategic advisor on platform and solution decisions across the enterprise.
WHAT YOU’LL DO:

Strategy and Vision: Develop and maintain comprehensive application architecture roadmaps that align with business strategies and organizational priorities.
Architecture Design & Governance: Define standards, design principles, and best practices for application design, development, and integration.
System Evaluation: Evaluate emerging technologies, vendor platforms, and software solutions for enterprise adoption. Provide architectural guidance on modernization initiatives and future-state application capabilities.
Integration and Scalability: Lead the integration of complex systems, ensuring applications are scalable, secure, performant and interoperable.
Portfolio Rationalization and Road mapping: Identify overlapping or redundant applications and create rationalization recommendations and roadmaps. Support leadership with Build vs Buy analysis and application lifecycle decisions.
Governance and Compliance: Review application designs for adherence to enterprise standards and security protocols.
Collaboration: Work with business leaders, Infrastructure architects, Security architects and IT teams to ensure alignment of technology with business initiatives
WHAT WE’RE SEEKING:

Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited 4-year college or university with 5+ years of relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
Extensive experience in application development, integration, and architectural design.
Deep understanding of cloud technologies, data architecture and software development lifecycles (SDLC).
Expertise in Application Portfolio Optimization.
Knowledge of orchestration tools to automate processes and services.
Ability to analyze, translate, and define business requirements into technical solutions.
Self-motivated and able to work independently with little supervision.
TOGAF certification is a plus.
Knowledge of SAP or JD Edwards ERP is a plus.
