The IT Engineer, based out of our Buffalo, NY office, will be responsible for the administration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of Windows servers, with an emphasis on Citrix and VMware platforms. Experience with cloud technologies such as Microsoft Azure, Entra, and M365 is essential. This role requires effective collaboration with remote team members and managers, as well as the ability to self-direct daily tasks to ensure seamless IT operations within the firm. The IT Engineer will contribute to our innovative technology solutions, helping to maintain and enhance our robust IT infrastructure.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Configures, manages, and ensures the high availability and optimal performance of Windows Server environments.
- Administers and supports Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops, including provisioning, application deployment, and user access management. Monitors system performance and user experience, ensuring high levels of operational continuity and efficiency.
- Implements, manages, and maintains Azure services and infrastructure, including Azure Entra, VMs, and Exchange Online.
- Employs monitoring tools to oversee system and network performance, proactively identifying and resolving issues to minimize downtime.
- Applies and manages security solutions to protect systems against unauthorized access, in line with industry standards and regulations. Manages patching and hardening of Windows servers and work with the firm’s managed security provider to remediate potential security vulnerabilities.
- Manages and maintains the firm’s backup and disaster recovery systems.
- Keeps detailed documentation, configuration changes, and operational procedures. Produces reports on infrastructure health, incidents, and performance metrics.
- Collaborates with IT teams on projects and initiatives. Offers technical support and guidance on network-related matters. Works with other members of the department to ensure the firm’s users are able to be productive 24x7x365.
- Utilizes excellent communication skills to convey complex IT issues/concepts into short explanations and simple terms.

QualificationsQualifications and Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field strongly preferred.
- Minimum of 1-3 years Engineering level experience
- Relevant certifications (e.g., CCNA, MCSE, Citrix Certified, Azure Administrator Associate) are highly desirable.
- Demonstrated experience in network engineering, with a strong focus on Windows Server management, Citrix, and Microsoft Azure.
- Expertise in Microsoft technologies, including Active Directory, Group Policy, and PowerShell scripting, alongside Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops.
- Knowledge of virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V) and familiarity with cloud services, especially Azure.
- Windows 11, Microsoft Teams, O365, Azure, Intune and Desktop/laptop Imaging technology knowledge.
- General familiarity with Microsoft SQL servers and databases.
- Knowledge of network infrastructure and the ability to support switches, routers, managed firewalls, and VPNs preferred.
- Strong analytical skills for diagnosing and resolving complex technical issues.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for explaining technical information effectively to non-technical staff.
