General Summary:
The IT Disaster Recovery Manager is responsible for developing, governing, and continuously improving the enterprise Disaster Recovery (DR) and technology resilience program across retail stores, distribution centers, corporate offices, data centers, cloud platforms, and critical third-party providers. This strategic leadership role ensures the organization's ability to recover critical business operations following cyber incidents, technology failures, natural disasters, supply chain disruptions, or other business interruptions. The role partners closely with Cybersecurity, Infrastructure, Application Development, Store Operations, Supply Chain, Finance, and Executive Leadership to establish a mature resiliency program aligned with business objectives.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities:
Strategy & Governance
Develop and execute the enterprise Disaster Recovery and Technology Resilience strategy.
Establish DR governance, policies, standards, and recovery frameworks.
Define and maintain recovery objectives (RTOs and RPOs) for all critical business services.
Present program maturity, risks, and readiness metrics to executive leadership and governance committees.
Align DR capabilities with business continuity, cyber resilience, and operational risk programs.
Disaster Recovery Program Management
Maintain enterprise-wide disaster recovery plans for:
Retail stores, Distribution centers
Corporate Offices
Data centers
Cloud environments (Azure/AWS)
Critical SaaS applications
Ensure recovery plans remain current and tested.
Establish recovery tiers and service prioritization for business-critical applications.
Testing & Exercise Management
Lead annual and quarterly DR exercises.
Conduct:
Tabletop exercises
Technical Failover tests.
Cyber recovery simulations
Executive crisis exercises
Validate recovery capabilities against business requirements.
Drive remediation of identified gaps.
Cyber Resilience & Incident Recovery
Partner with Security Operations and Incident Response teams to support cyber recovery planning.
Develop ransomware recovery and clean-room recovery procedures.
Validate backup integrity and immutable backup strategies.
Support crisis management during significant cyber incidents.
Infrastructure & Cloud Resilience
Partner with infrastructure teams to ensure:
High availability architecture
Data replication strategies
Backup and recovery solutions
Multi-region cloud resilience
Evaluate disaster recovery readiness for new technology deployments.
Vendor & Third-Party Resilience
Assess disaster recovery capabilities of critical vendors and service providers.
Incorporate resilience requirements into contracts and vendor governance processes.
Support third-party risk management assessments.
Regulatory & Compliance Support
Support compliance initiatives including:
PCI DSS
SOX
NIST CSF
ISO 22301
Cyber Insurance requirements
Maintain evidence of DR testing and recovery readiness.
Position Requirements:
Required
8–12+ years in Disaster Recovery, Infrastructure, Cybersecurity, Business Continuity, or Technology Operations.
Experience supporting large-scale retail environments (1,000+ stores preferred).
Experience with cloud environments (Azure, AWS).
Strong knowledge of backup, recovery, and business continuity methodologies.
Experience leading enterprise-wide DR testing.
