The IT Controller will oversee the financial management of the IT department, ensuring accurate budgeting, cost control, monthly accounting and financial reporting. Reporting to the Director of Corporate Accounting, this role requires effective coordination with global IT, finance, and accounting stakeholders to ensure timely, accurate financial reporting and compliance with relevant accounting standards and regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Budget and Financial Management: Collaboratively develop, manage, and monitor the IT department’s budget on a global scale. Ensure alignment with corporate financial goals, track budget performance, and identify cost-saving opportunities.
- Financial Reporting: Prepare and deliver detailed financial reports on IT expenditures, budgets, and financial performance to the Director of Corporate Accounting and IT/Finance senior management. Provide insights and recommendations for financial decision-making.
- Accounting Oversight: Supervise and manage accounting processes related to IT expenditures, including invoice processing, accounts payable, and reconciliation of financial transactions. Ensure accuracy and compliance with accounting standards, including internal-use and cloud computing software arrangements.
- Cost Analysis and Control: Conduct in-depth financial analysis of IT investments and expenditures. Monitor and control IT-related costs to ensure financial efficiency and provide actionable recommendations for improvement.
- Global Coordination: Collaborate with IT, finance, and accounting teams across different global regions to align financial practices, share information, and ensure consistent application of financial policies and procedures.
- Vendor and Contract Management: Work with IT vendors and service providers globally to manage financial aspects of contracts, ensure accurate billing, and support in negotiation of terms as needed.
- Project Financial Support: Partner with global IT project managers to oversee the financial aspects of IT projects, including budgeting, forecasting, and tracking. Provide financial insights to support project planning and execution.
- Compliance and Internal Controls: Ensure adherence to internal financial policies and external regulatory requirements. Implement and monitor financial controls within the IT department to safeguard financial integrity.
- Process Improvement: Identify and implement improvements to financial processes and systems within the IT department to enhance efficiency and accuracy. Leverage best practices in financial management and technology.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field. Professional certification such as CPA (Certified Public Accountant) or CMA (Certified Management Accountant) is highly preferred.
- Experience: At least 5 years of experience in accounting or finance, with a minimum of 2 years in a role involving financial management or accounting within the IT function. Experience working in a global company is highly desirable.
- Technical Skills: Deep knowledge of U.S. GAAP for software costs (both internal-use and cloud computing software arrangements). Strong understanding of IT systems, software, and infrastructure. Proficiency in financial software and tools, with advanced skills in Excel and financial modeling.
- Analytical Skills: Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen eye for detail.
- Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to clearly convey complex financial information to both financial and non-financial stakeholders, including global teams.
- Organizational Skills: Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced, global environment.
- Team Collaboration: Demonstrated ability to work effectively with cross-functional and global teams, building positive relationships with IT and finance colleagues worldwide.
