About the job 

The IT Compliance Analyst plays a key role within UKAEA’s IT Service Management (ITSM) Group, part of the Enterprise Infrastructure Solutions (EIS) Unit, providing expert oversight and assurance of software licensing and IT compliance across a complex hybrid IT environment. The role ensures UKAEA maintains a robust, auditable, and cost-effective compliance position by defining and improving compliance controls, managing risks, and supporting effective service delivery. 

In this role, you will work collaboratively across IT operations, cyber security, procurement, and finance teams as well as with end users across all divisions, to provide specialist guidance and assurance on hardware and software compliance. Acting as a key point of expertise, you will use your knowledge and professional judgement to interpret licensing requirements, strengthen governance frameworks, and embed effective compliance practices within IT service management processes. You will play a vital role in helping UKAEA maintain a robust, auditable, and cost-effective compliance position by reducing organisational risk, improving operational efficiency, and supporting the responsible management of public funds.

What You’ll Be Doing

 

  • Own and improve IT compliance controls, ensuring accurate, auditable hardware and software licensing across EIS.
  • Provide expert guidance on compliance risks, audits, governance, and remediation activities.
  • Use ITSM and asset management tools to monitor licence usage, improve data quality, and provide compliance insights.
  • Support licence management recording, renewals, cost optimisation, and compliance throughout the technology lifecycle.
  • Collaborate with IT, cyber security, procurement, finance, and suppliers to strengthen compliance practices across UKAEA.
  • Where available look to integrate automated licence retrieval, recording and re-use

What You’ll Bring

  • HND or higher in IT, STEM, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Substantial experience in software compliance, licensing management, or IT audit within complex IT environments.
  • Strong understanding of licence models including subscription, enterprise, perpetual, concurrent, and SaaS‑based licensing.
  • Experience leading or coordinating audit and assurance activities.
  • Ability to exercise professional judgement in ambiguous compliance scenarios.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and influence skills across technical and non‑technical audiences.
  • Working knowledge of ITIL‑aligned ITSM/ITOM environments.

Desirable

  • ITIL v4/v5 Foundation or higher.
  • Project or delivery framework qualifications (e.g. PRINCE2®, PMP).
  • Compliance or licensing certifications (e.g. CSAM, CAMP, ISO27001 auditor).
  • Experience in regulated, government, scientific, or energy environments.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft hybrid platforms and compliance tooling.

 

Please be aware that this role is subject to achieving a UK Security Vetting (UKSV) (must have resided in the UK for the last 5 years) including The Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) checks for criminal convictions and possibly a search of open-source data. 

UKAEA is an onsite organisation, and this role requires regular onsite presence (usually between 3-5 days in any given week) in line with business needs. We actively support flexible working arrangements where this is compatible with the role.

This role is advertised at Culham, but we are open to considering candidates based at other UKAEA locations.
