Overview:
WiredPeople is seeking to hire a IT Business Consultant to join our team! The IT Business Consultant will serve as the Enterprise Data Steward to support the Data Modernization project, specifically implementing, advocating for, and coordinating stewardship of data governance operations. The selected candidate must be located in Tallahassee, FL to be able to work onsite for this position, however, a hybrid work schedule is allowed.
Essential Functions:
- Conduct an orientation session for data stewards to explain their roles, responsibilities, and expectations.
- Develop a Data Steward Guidebook outlining standard practices and procedures. Submit the Data Steward Guidebook within two months of issuance of the Purchase Order to the Contract Manager for review and approval.
- Each quarter conduct data governance training sessions, workshops, and awareness programs for employees to foster a data-driven culture and improve data literacy across the organization.
- Serve as the leader or facilitator of the Data Steward Community of Practice meetings to provide guidance on standard approaches and ensure that best practices are shared across the group.
- Assist in creating (i.e. drafting and reviewing) new data governance policies.
- Collaborate with data stewards, business stakeholders, data owners, and technical data stewards to understand data requirements, resolve data-related issues, and promote data-driven decision-making.
- Create and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) that showcases the progress, impact, and performance of data governance and data stewards.
- Collaborate with information technology (IT) and Data Modernization project teams to ensure the tools support and align with the Department’s data steward operations.
- Define business rules, workflows, logic, and standards to be incorporated into the tool configuration.
- Coordinate with IT and project system implementor to install, configure, test, and deploy the data governance tools in the production environment.
- Ensure seamless integration with the existing data systems, including the Enterprise Data and Analytics Platform.
- Contribute to the data steward dashboard design and maintenance, including service tasks, approvals, data quality scores, and other metrics.
- Define, populate, and create processes to maintain metadata repositories, ensuring comprehensive data cataloging.
- Configure the tools to capture and visualize data lineage for datasets that are critical to enable the Department’s mission.
- Ensure master data match/merge logic and data enhancement complies with regulatory and operational requirements.
- Develop a pilot project to test data governance stewardship processes (e.g., data quality improvement, data sharing) and submit it to the Contract Manager for the to review and approve.
- Launch the approved pilot project.
- Foster innovation in data stewardship practices through ongoing research of modern practices and tools, and ongoing monitoring of current practices to identify where adjustments and improvements are needed to support evolving business requirements to accelerate data and insights to action.
- Create a monthly summary report documenting the activities performed during the period.
- Submit the monthly summary report.
Qualifications:
- A minimum of four years of experience implementing and administering data governance tools, including data profiling, data quality, metadata management / data catalog, and master data management tools.
- A minimum of four years of experience in data management, data governance, or data stewardship roles.
- A minimum of three years of experience writing data-related enterprise level policies.
- A minimum of a four-year college degree in business, public health administration, computer science or analytics. A current data governance certification such as the Certified Data
- Management Professional (CDMP) may be considered in lieu of the degree.
- A minimum of three years of experience in root cause analysis and remediation of data quality issues.
- A minimum of three years of experience in verbal and written communications to convey project progress and results of analysis, which includes the ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- A minimum of three years of experience creating detailed documentation, including data flow diagrams, guidebooks, training documents, and strategic roadmaps.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, senior leadership, and external stakeholders.
- Strong presentation skills, including the ability to command presence of an audience during trainings and/or presentations is preferred.
