The IT Supply Chain Business Analyst acts as the critical bridge between our supply chain operations teams and the IT function. You will be responsible for analysing, documenting, and improving the systems and processes that support DS Smith Paper supply chain — including paper sourcing, planning, inventory management, logistics, and sustainability. You will drive the delivery of IT-enabled change that delivers measurable operational value.
You will:
Business Analysis & Requirements
Elicit, document, and validate business requirements from supply chain stakeholders across planning, logistics, and operations
Translate business needs into clear functional and non-functional specifications for IT delivery teams.
Conduct as-is process analysis and develop to-be process designs, identifying gaps and opportunities for improvemen
Maintain detailed business requirements documentation, process maps, and data flow diagrams throughout the project lifecycle
Systems & Technology
Support the configuration, testing, and deployment of ERP and supply chain management systems (SAP S/4HANA)
Support the deployment of a new advanced planning system across DS Smith Paper Sourcing
Manage system enhancements and change requests, ensuring solutions are fit for purpose and aligned with DS Smith enterprise architecture
Collaborate with integration teams to ensure seamless data flow between supply chain, manufacturing, and finance systems
Project Delivery
Support and lead workstreams within supply chain IT projects, from initiation through to post-implementation review
Develop and execute test plans, including UAT, and manage defect resolution with both business and technical teams
Produce high-quality project artefacts including business cases, impact assessments, training materials, and cutover plans
Monitor project risks and issues, escalating appropriately and proposing mitigating actions
Stakeholder Engagement
Build strong working relationships with supply chain, operations, finance, and IT teams across the DS Smith Paper business
Facilitate workshops and working groups to drive requirements gathering, solution design, and change adoption
Produce clear, audience-appropriate communications and progress updates for both technical and non-technical stakeholders
Support the business change management activities, including training delivery and hypercare support post-go-live
Continuous Improvement
Proactively identify opportunities to leverage technology to improve supply chain efficiency, visibility, and resilience
Contribute to the development of DS Smiths digital supply chain roadmap, bringing external best practice and innovation
Participate in the IT BA community of practice, sharing knowledge and contributing to methodology improvements
You have:
Proven experience as a Business Analyst in a supply chain or manufacturing IT environment
Strong understanding of supply chain processes — planning, procurement, logistics, inventory, and order management
Excellent requirements gathering and documentation skills, with experience of formal BA methodologies
Demonstrable experience delivering UAT, managing test scripts, and coordinating defect resolution
Strong stakeholder management skills — comfortable working with both operational business users and technical developers
Fluency in English
Hands-on experience with SAP ERP, particularly supply chain-related modules (MM, SD, PP, or WM/EWM) would be advantageous
Proficiency in process mapping tools (e.g. Visio, Signavio, ARIS) and Microsoft Office suite would be advantageous
Experience in a paper, packaging, or broader manufacturing/process industry environment would be advantageous
Familiarity with SAP S/4HANA migration or implementation projects would be advantageous
Exposure to supply chain planning tools such as SAP IBP, OMP, Kinaxis, or Blue Yonder would be advantageous
Knowledge of EDI, B2B integration, or supply chain data standards would be advantageous
