What you'll do:The IT Applications Specialist is responsible for the design, configuration, implementation and maintenance of Geotab’s IT application systems. This position is also responsible to maintain a secure and highly available application environment. You will be responsible for identifying and implementing features, functions and AI capabilities to support internal client business plans. This role includes investigating and troubleshooting application issues of a complex nature, identifying improvement in existing applications, and clearly communicating these to the appropriate teams. You are highly motivated and very passionate about Geotab’s success, growth, and service quality.
How you'll make an impact:- Design, configure, implement and maintain applications and service requirements while establishing best practices.
Lead and/or participate in projects as a technical subject matter expert.
Analyzing new functionality in releases to determine business value.
Plan, coordinate and test upgrades for enterprise applications, recommending changes for improvement as needed while systems operate correctly in current and future environments.
Work with business owners in order to understand business needs and manage expectations of users we are supporting.
Perform daily health checks to detect issues and minimize downtime.
Performance tuning by identifying ways to maximize the potential and ensure high availability of applications.
Identify and resolve medium to highly complex production problems for supported applications (Google Workspace, RingCentral, PagerDuty, etc.).
Provide roadmap recommendations to management regarding technology directions, decisions, security policy, and roadmap.
Lead and ensure in-depth analysis of problems and initiate corrective actions and implementation of preventative measures.
Create and maintain SOP’s for application portfolio including other technical documentation to be used by internal Geotab technical and non-technical teams.
Write and maintain automation scripts and leverage configuration management to increase system efficiency and effectiveness.
Maintain knowledge of docker containers in a production environment.
Management of global Active Directory infrastructure including patching and general maintenance.
Manage Google Workspace within Geotab’s corporate system and service environment.
Experience managing Mobile Device Management (MDM) solution’s (e.g. VMware Workspace One).
Zero Trust Architecture management.
Ability to effectively prioritize multiple requests, projects, and activities typically working under pressure.
Participate in an after-hours on-call rotation.
Support Geotab global strategic initiatives.
Participate in a 24x7 on-call rotating schedule (if applicable).
2 - 5 years experience with Cloud Platforms (platform components, assembling applications, and run-time architecture).
Post-Secondary Diploma/Degree specialization in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field.
Professional certification in IT (e.g. Google ACE, Google Professional Collaboration Engineer, Linux +, AWS) highly valued.
Knowledge of ChromeOS, Windows and Linux OS installation, configuration, troubleshooting, and maintenance.
Knowledge of SSO methodologies (SAML & LDAPS).
Strong programming/scripting knowledge - Powershell, Python, Bash, etc.
Experience managing and supporting Linux-based environments.
Experience managing and configuring Active Directory/Group Policy.
Experience with cloud computing platforms including Google Cloud, AWS, and Microsoft Azure.
Experience with Zero Trust Architecture.
Able to work well under pressure and respond to fast changing priorities and deadlines.
Highly organized and able to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
A strong team-player with the ability to engage with all levels of the organization.
Technical competence using software programs, including, but not limited to, Google Suite for business (Sheets, Docs, Slides).
Entrepreneurial mindset and comfortable in a flat organization.
