We are seeking an Administrator to work within the Institute of Regeneration and Repair (IRR), a multidisciplinary cross-college institute composed of 3 world renowned research centres delivering scientific research from concept to clinical and commercial product within one world leading laboratory complex on the BioQuarter site in south Edinburgh. Our institute provides a fertile and dynamic environment which allows our researchers to flourish.  

The post holder will provide administrative, coordination and organisational support, for a large high profile research institute and undertake responsibility for a wide range of key institute related administrative operational processes to facilitate the research and working environment of the Institute.  

 

The role involves a variety of tasks including: 

  • Administration support to the building registration process, including access level management.
  • Distribute and monitor visitor’s cards.
  • Primary contact for new starts, including coordination of desk spaces and equipment.
  • Support to IRR academics and other members of the admin team.

 

This post is part-time (26 hours per week). We are open to considering requests for hybrid working (on a non-contractual basis) that combines a mix of remote and regular on-campus working. 

 

Your skills and attributes for success: 

  • Previous experience in a similar administrative role.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.   
  • A high level of competence with Microsoft Office and e-mail. 
  • Ability to undertake training in new IT / Finance / HR systems and platforms.
  • Ability to work independently, to use initiative and prioritise own work.

The School of Regeneration and Repair (SRR) is one of the six Schools that make up the College of Medicine and Veterinary Medicine (CMVM). The School, in addition to select staff and students from the Schools of Biological Sciences and Chemistry (College of Science and Engineering) form the Institute for Regeneration and Repair (IRR). At IRR scientists and clinicians study tissue regeneration and repair to advance human health and reproductive outcomes. The Institute incorporates three leading research centres with a focus on regenerative medicine, inflammation and reproductive health. IRR is one of the College’s five world-leading research institutes.

The teams in the six CMVM Schools work together to build outstanding discovery and translational research programmes designed to answer the major challenges facing humanity, animal and planetary health, now and in the future. The College’s undergraduate and postgraduate teaching is delivered through Edinburgh Medical School and the Royal (Dick) School of Medical Studies with contributions from all six schools.
