The IP/Patent Counsel-Analyst is responsible for directly supporting Nexperia's IP strategy and patent portfolio creation by searching and analyzing patents owned by third parties, including Nexperia's competitors, and providing insights and recommendations that help define and execute intellectual property strategies aligned with Nexperia's business objectives.
Working closely with R&D teams, Business Groups and IP colleagues, the IP/Patent Counsel-Analyst translates patent intelligence into actionable guidance that supports innovation, identifies opportunities, mitigates intellectual property risks and strengthens Nexperia's competitive position.

IP Strategy
- Together with the IP Counsel and IP Manager, develop patent creation strategies that support the needs of each Business Group within the assigned budget.
- Provide patent analysis and IP-related training to R&D teams, as required.
- Conduct patent searches and analyses, create IP landscapes and provide clear recommendations that support IP strategy development across Nexperia's Business Groups.
- Monitor competitors' patent portfolios and identify potentially relevant or high-risk patents.
- Identify new business opportunities and potential partners through patent searches, IP landscape studies and competitor IP analyses.
- Perform Freedom-to-Operate (FTO) assessments for R&D projects in close collaboration with R&D and business managers.
- Provide guidance for invention creation and patent generation activities within new R&D projects based on patent analyses.
- Support IP Counsels in drafting patent applications, preparing responses to office actions and reviewing correspondence from external patent attorneys.
- Collaborate closely with R&D teams and other stakeholders on IP-related activities.
- Prepare IP reports and overviews that effectively communicate complex information to both technical and business audiences.
- Act as an active member of R&D development projects, proactively assessing relevant IP and patent-related matters and providing clear recommendations and strategic direction. This may include supporting product design-around activities to avoid patent risks, identifying patent white spaces and uncovering opportunities for innovation and patent creation.
Hard Skills
- Degree in Electronics Engineering, Physics or a related technical discipline.
- Patent/IP education or training (for example, patent attorney training) is considered an advantage.
- Experience in patent searching and analysis of complex patent landscapes.
- Strong knowledge of patent analytics platforms such as PatSnap, Orbit, PatentSight, Espacenet and national patent registers.
- Experience with semiconductor devices and manufacturing processes.
- Experience with IP management systems, preferably IPfolio, is an advantage.
- Knowledge of brand protection platforms such as LexisNexis is considered beneficial.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and within a team environment.
- Strong collaboration skills, with the ability to engage a wide range of legal, technical and business stakeholders.

The IP/Patent Counsel-Analyst is part of Nexperia's Global Legal & IP team and reports directly to the Global Head of IP. In this role, you will work closely with R&D teams, Business Groups, IP colleagues and external partners to support innovation and strengthen Nexperia's intellectual property position. The team provides strategic guidance on intellectual property matters and helps transform technological innovation into business value.
