OverviewNelson Mullins, an AmLaw 100 firm, is seeking an IP Docketing Specialist to join its Intellectual Property team. This position plays a critical role in supporting the firm's intellectual property practice by maintaining accurate docket records, monitoring deadlines, and ensuring the timely processing of intellectual property-related actions. The ideal candidate will have experience supporting patent, trademark, copyright, domain name, and IP litigation matters in a fast-paced, high-volume environment and will be committed to accuracy, efficiency, and continuous improvement. A Day in the LifeThis position is responsible for reviewing and triaging high-volume correspondence from clients, foreign counsel, and intellectual property offices, routing correspondence as appropriate, and analyzing materials to docket new actions and update existing matters. The IP Docketing Specialist will maintain accurate docket records, monitor critical deadlines, review docket reports, process docket clearance and de-docketing requests, and support file transfers and matter maintenance activities. This role also works closely with attorneys, paralegals, and administrative professionals to identify and resolve data discrepancies, ensure the accuracy of information within the firm's docketing system, and support reporting, auditing, and data quality initiatives. The ideal candidate will be a detail-oriented and highly organized professional with the ability to work effectively in a deadline-driven environment. They will possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills, excellent written and verbal communication abilities, and a commitment to maintaining accurate and comprehensive docket records. The successful candidate will demonstrate sound judgment, adaptability, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively while managing a high-volume workload.

  • Minimum of three years of intellectual property docketing experience, preferably in a law firm environment.
  • Proficiency with the CPi docketing system and a strong understanding of intellectual property docketing processes.
  • Experience with patent and/or trademark docketing, with trademark docketing experience strongly preferred.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to prioritize multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Salary/Wage Range: $71,000 - $89,000 annually. In addition to base pay, employees may be eligible for merit-based salary increases and a comprehensive benefits package, including healthcare coverage, retirement savings plans, and paid time off.
