We are looking for a connectivity specialist in IoT System Manager to take ownership of Ohme's EV Charging connectivity requirements end to end. This is a hybrid role (3 days a week in the office) and can be based either in our London office or our Chester warehouse.

What you'll do
  • Own Ohme’s end-to-end charger connectivity solution, ensuring reliable cellular IoT 4G, WiFi and BLE connectivity across all EV charger models and for the full life cycle
  • Assist with managing the relationships with third-party SIM and telecom providers, including contracts, performance reviews, coverage issues, escalations, and opportunities to improve resilience and value.
  • Oversee the physical connectivity hardware within chargers—such as modems, antennas, SIMs, and related components - working with engineering and suppliers to improve reliability and resolve field issues.
  • Be a key stakeholder for reliable, multi-channel (Cellular / WiFi / Bluetooth) connectivity.
  • Optimise the IT infrastructure setup between managed IoT connectivity platforms and Ohme’s cloud-based backend for data, control (API) and reporting
  • Own operational reporting on connectivity health: activation rates, network availability, data usage, failure trends, roaming performance, and the customer impact of outages.
  • Lead cross-functional incident response and continuous improvement, coordinating Product, Hardware, Software, Operations, Customer Support, and external partners to prevent connectivity problems and restore affected chargers quickly.
Who you are:
  • Strong experience with WiFi and managed cellular IoT connectivity, including 2G/4G/LTE-M, SIM lifecycle management, APNs, roaming, coverage, and connectivity troubleshooting.
  • Solid networking and security knowledge, including IP networking, DNS, VPNs, HTTPS, TLS, APIs, and secure cloud-to-device communication.
  • Practical understanding of connected hardware, including cellular modems, antennas, SIM interfaces, AT commands, and diagnosing whether faults sit in the device, network, firmware, or cloud platform.
  • Hands-on experience managing large fleets of remotely connected devices, using telemetry, logs, remote configuration, and firmware updates to improve reliability.
  • Ability to analyse connectivity performance and work effectively with network/SIM providers—covering dashboards, incident investigation, root-cause analysis, SLAs, and technical escalations.
  • A strong communicator who can explain technical detail in plain language and tailor it to non-technical audiences across the business.
