The Sora team is pioneering video capabilities for OpenAI’s foundation models. We’re a hybrid research and product team focused on integrating video functionalities into our AI products, ensuring they are reliable, user-friendly, and aligned with our mission of broad societal benefit.

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced mobile engineer to help build the Sora iOS app from the ground up. In this role, you will work closely with product leads, designers, researchers, and fellow engineers to create a seamless and innovative mobile experience that brings our video generation technology to users worldwide.

As one of the first engineers on the mobile team, you will define our mobile strategy, set technical direction, and build foundational systems for our iOS app. We value engineers who take ownership, have a product mindset, and are excited to shape new user experiences.

In this role, you will:

• Design, build, and maintain the Sora iOS app, ensuring a high-quality and performant user experience.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate product goals into mobile features.

• Optimize video playback, editing, and generation workflows on mobile devices.

• Establish best practices for mobile development, testing, and deployment.

• Shape the technical roadmap for our mobile efforts and influence the broader product strategy.

• Bonus: Bring experience with video processing, playback, or related multimedia technologies.

You might thrive in this role if you:

• Have 5+ years of industry experience in mobile engineering, with a strong focus on iOS development using Swift.

• Have built and launched successful iOS applications from zero to one.

• Are passionate about crafting intuitive and delightful mobile user experiences.

• Thrive in fast-paced, ambiguous environments and can adapt to evolving product needs.

This role is based in San Francisco, CA. We use a hybrid work model with three days in the office per week and offer relocation assistance to new employees.
