The Role

POSITION SUMMARY

Primarily responsible for supporting the preparation of monthly reporting, quarterly forecasting and analysis related to the IOH business. Provides timely and in-depth financial insights, analysis and reporting to help drive business performance and support other business functions (particularly within Finance), to ensure accuracy and integrity of financial data. Works closely with various teams across IOH including (but not limited to) Underwriting, Actuarial, Expense Management, Line Accountants, and Sales. Develops and maintains financial models, data and metrics to support strategic and operational decision making. Preparing variance analysis reporting and commentary, identifying and investigating anomalies and implementing controls where needed, as well as continuously improving processes to enhance efficiency, quality and accuracy.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop an understanding of the systems that hold our data e.g. ARA, GMS, Mainframe.
  • Extract and validate large sets of data.
  • Assisting and feeding into the month end, quarter end and year end close by delivering key inputs, ensuring transparency, accuracy and timeliness.
  • Analyze, interpret and investigate financial data and KPIs to provide insights into the business performance, including variance analysis of Actuals vs. Plan and forecasts.
  • Support the preparation of the quarterly forecasting and related analysis, including, but not limited to
    • Developing, maintaining and troubleshooting complex models and workbooks
    • Collaborating with key stakeholders to understand business metrics, inputs and assumptions
    • Conducting scenario and sensitivity planning on inputs received from the business and impact this will have on the metrics and financials.
  • Identifying key business drivers and providing in-depth walk through of movements from prior periods, forecasts and Plans.
  • Identify and implement process improvements and automation in reporting, building in more efficiencies and accuracy where possible, whilst reducing manual workload.
  • Assist with internal and external audit requests, producing necessary process documentation when required
  • Attend meetings as the FP&A representative providing analysis and expertise as needed
  • Support ongoing financial projects when required
  • Assist with ad hoc requests

ROLE REQUIREMENTS & COMPENENCIES

  • 5+ years in a Finance, Business or another highly analytical position
  • Bachelor’s degree in mathematics, Finance or a related field
  • Experience in healthcare and/or the insurance industry is preferred
  • Strong financial, analytics and business acumen.
  • Demonstrated understanding and successful execution of financial month end close and forecasting cycle.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office suite is essential, especially MS Excel and PowerPoint. Experience with financial planning tools (e.g. Hyperion and TM1) would be a bonus.
  • Skilled in leveraging data to drive analysis, forecasting accuracy and decision making. Able to utilize independent judgment and discretion, identify variances and recommend solutions.
  • Team player able to work under pressure, in a cross-cultural environment, and perform several tasks simultaneously to consistently meet tight deadlines.
  • Excellent written, communication, organization and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate results of analytics to a multitude of individuals/groups.
