Position
Overview
Our
client is seeking to recruit an experienced Investment Accountant to
support the accounting, reporting, and reconciliation of the Company's
investment portfolio. The successful candidate will be responsible for
maintaining the integrity of investment accounting records, ensuring compliance
with IFRS and regulatory requirements, and providing accurate financial
information to support management reporting, audits, and investment
decision-making.
Duties
& Responsibilities:
Investment
Accounting:
- Record and maintain
all investment-related accounting transactions, including purchases,
disposals, maturities, investment income, accruals, amortization, and fair
value adjustments.
- Maintain detailed
investment sub-ledgers and ensure accurate and timely posting to the
general ledger.
- Ensure investment
accounting is performed in accordance with IFRS and applicable regulatory
requirements.
Reconciliations
& Financial Controls:
- Perform monthly
reconciliations between investment sub-ledgers and the general ledger.
- Reconcile investment
cash accounts, custodian statements, and other control accounts.
- Prepare and maintain
supporting schedules for investment balances, investment income, accrued
income, receivables, fair value adjustments, and cash movements.
- Investigate and
resolve reconciling items promptly while maintaining appropriate
supporting documentation.
- Assist in maintaining
strong internal controls over investment accounting processes.
Financial
Reporting & Audit Support:
- Prepare audit
schedules and supporting documentation for internal and external audits.
- Respond to audit and
regulatory queries relating to investment accounting.
- Support the
preparation of statutory financial statements, regulatory returns, and
investment-related disclosures.
- Provide accurate
investment accounting information for monthly and year-end financial
reporting.
Management
Reporting:
- Prepare investment
reports and reconciled balances to support management decision-making.
- Work closely with the
Investment Manager and Finance team to ensure accounting records
accurately reflect investment activity.
- Assist with ad hoc
reporting and analysis relating to investment performance, balances, and
cash flows.
Budgeting
& Forecasting Support:
- Provide investment
income data and cash flow information to support budgeting and forecasting
activities.
- Assist in analysing
variances between actual results, budgets, and forecasts.
- Support financial
planning through accurate reporting of investment income and expected cash
movements.
Process
Improvement:
- Identify opportunities
to improve investment accounting processes, reconciliations, and reporting
efficiencies.
- Assist with automation
initiatives and process documentation.
- Maintain up-to-date
accounting procedures relating to investment activities.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in
Accounting, Finance, Economics, Banking, or a related discipline.
- Progress toward a
professional accounting qualification such as ACCA, CPA, or CMA is preferred.
- Minimum of 4 years' accounting or finance experience.
- Experience in
investment accounting, financial services, insurance, or a related
industry would be an advantage.
- Sound knowledge of
International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
- Experience with Sage
300 ERP or similar accounting systems is preferred.
- Knowledge of SQL,
reporting tools, or financial systems would be an asset.
- Strong proficiency in
Microsoft Excel, including formulas, data analysis, and financial
reporting.

Skills Required
