Overview:

Drives all investment research efforts, including thought leadership and thematic investment research.  Participates in investment strategy discussions and proactively develops communication plans regarding market positioning for Wealth clients and across the Bank.

Primary Responsibilities:

Work independently to build and develop monthly strategy content to include in Tactical Asset Allocation (TAA) recommendations for portfolio recommendations and the Investment and Portfolio Management Committees.  Work with other Investment Strategists and the Head of Investment Strategy to finalize content used to provide investment guidance and advice for Wealth clients making investment decisions as well as Bank-wide for market and investment updates.

Participate in calls or meetings with client-facing Advisors as a subject matter expert on investment strategies to help the Wealth Advisor close the deal and/or gain new business.

Research pertinent investment strategy topics by summarizing and/or re-creating analyses from research providers and academic literature and offer independent analysis.

Suggest and write investment content for internal and external audiences to provide the firm’s review on the economy and markets to make informed investment decisions.

May deliver internal department and external client presentations of the firm's views on the economy and markets.

Understand and adhere to the Company’s risk and regulatory standards, policies and controls in accordance with the Company’s Risk Appetite.  Identify risk-related issues needing escalation to management.

Promote an environment that supports a culture of belonging and reflects the M&T Bank brand.

Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable.

Complete other related duties as assigned.

Scope of Responsibilities:

The position supports the Investment Strategist team in providing research, data, and strategies that reflect the best thinking of Wilmington Trust in support of Wealth clients and the Bank.  The position ensures client and advisor feedback is built into the research process and that implementation within the investment program is consistent with that messaging.

Education and Experience Required:

Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 5 years’ investment experience, or in lieu of a degree, a combined minimum of 9 years’ higher education and/or work experience, including a minimum of 5 years’ investment experience

Understanding of the entire investment process

Basic knowledge of all asset classes, including equity, fixed income and alternatives

Proficiency with personal computers as well as pertinent spreadsheet software

           

Education and Experience Preferred:

Master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA)

CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst) certification

Knowledge of capital markets or investment management industry experience

Strong analytical skills

Strong organizational skills

Strong verbal and written communication skills

Ability to present and speak to a diverse group with varying levels of investment/market knowledge

M&T Bank is committed to fair, competitive, and market-informed pay for our employees. The pay range for this position is $128,100.00 - $213,500.00 Annual (USD). The successful candidate’s particular combination of knowledge, skills, and experience will inform their specific compensation.
