This role sits within the Fixed Income Performance Analysis team and supports both active and index fixed income strategies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform fixed income performance measurement, attribution, and analysis across daily, monthly, and ad‑hoc reporting cycles.

  • Produce accurate and timely performance and attribution outputs, ensuring consistency with benchmarks and internal standards.

  • Explain fixed income performance drivers across dimensions such as sector, security, duration, yield curve, spread, and currency, translating technical results into clear, investment‑relevant insights.

  • Partner with Fixed Income Portfolio Managers, Risk, and Product stakeholders to support decision‑making through robust analysis.

  • Investigate and resolve performance and attribution breaks using structured root‑cause analysis, escalating issues appropriately.

  • Maintain and enhance performance and attribution models within established frameworks, applying industry‑standard methodologies.

  • Utilise analytical tools and large datasets (e.g. Excel, SQL, Python) to support analysis, automation, and efficiency improvements.

  • Apply Vanguard’s risk and control standards to ensure data integrity, governance, and audit readiness.

  • Identify and contribute to opportunities to improve processes, scalability, and automation.

  • Share knowledge and best practices and support team collaboration and development.

  • Participate in projects and other duties as required.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Accounting, or a related discipline.

  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience; interest in CIPM or CFA preferred.

  • Three or more years’ experience in investment performance, attribution, or a related analytical role.

  • Strong knowledge of fixed income markets, instruments, and portfolio management concepts.

  • Experience applying fixed income attribution methodologies and performance measurement techniques.

  • Fund accounting knowledge and familiarity with IBOR and ABOR preferred, with the ability to explain both investment and accounting impacts on performance.

  • Knowledge of BlackRock Solutions Aladdin is advantageous.

  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills with the ability to communicate insights clearly.

  • Proficiency in Excel and data analysis tools; experience with SQL or Python is beneficial.

  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities with increasing independence.

  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, global environment.

What Good Looks Like in This Role

•             Performance outputs are consistently accurate, timely, and trusted

•             Portfolio managers rely on you for interpretation, not just data

•             You can clearly explain performance to both technical and non-technical audiences

•             You proactively identify issues before they escalate

•             You improve processes, rather than just operating within them

Vanguard Compensation & Benefits Highlights

The following summarizes recurring compensation and benefits themes identified from responses generated by popular LLMs to common candidate questions about Vanguard and has not been reviewed or approved by Vanguard.

  • Retirement Support Retirement support appears unusually strong through a 401(k) design that includes a match plus an additional employer contribution, which can materially lift long-term total rewards. HSA seeding and an enhanced employer match further strengthen the savings-and-benefits value of the package.
  • Wellbeing & Lifestyle Benefits Wellbeing and lifestyle support is reinforced by a sizable annual FlexFund stipend that can be applied across many day-to-day categories such as fitness, childcare, and other personal expenses. On-site or virtual clinics and fitness options add practical health and wellness convenience.
  • Affordable Benefits Healthcare and related benefits are positioned as comparatively affordable via heavily subsidized medical plans and broad coverage options. This affordability can offset moderate base pay for employees who place higher value on out-of-pocket cost reductions.
