Overall Purpose of Role

We are looking for an Investment Analyst to assist with the oversight of the investments team and their regulatory obligations based out of our Dublin office. This role will focus on investment oversight/ management of the Barings International Fund Managers Ireland (BIFMI) contracted business, incorporating all funds and managed accounts. As of December 31st , 2025, BIFMI’s Assets under management amount to approx. $48.4bn invested across 86 separate funds.

The role is to work with the designated investment management person under CP86, who is responsible for monitoring investment performance and investment processes, supporting strategic projects from an investment perspective and providing investment management information to the broader group. The Investment Oversight function is a team of three and the successful candidate will be a key member of the team supporting, developing, and taking a lead in core team activities.

The ideal person will have a good understanding of all of the major asset classes (as well as preferably alternative asset classes) and be comfortable engaging with fellow team members and portfolio managers on a regular basis to discuss market developments, understand fund performance, and decipher product strategy. They should likewise be able to determine that portfolios are managed in line with the approved investment approach, build and maintain the infrastructure to monitor same on a regular basis, and report to interested parties such as internal colleagues, the Board, and regulators, in order to explain and give assurances regarding the portfolio management process.  

A good understanding of ESG and its role in the Investment process as well as a knowledge of ESG regulatory developments would also be preferred.   

Principal Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the strengthening of investment processes, research and control framework within the region, including enhancing and developing reports/outputs of the Investment Oversight team.
  • Support and ultimately take the lead on Investment oversight activities with regards specific asset classes and funds.
  • Oversee certain delegeted portfolio management activity from the region and develop management information and surveillance in accordance with this responsibility.
  • Serve as support and/or escalation point for investments on all matters that could have an adverse impact on the company, its clients and its relationshiops with regulators
  • Foster adherence to local regulatory requirements such as CP86.
  • Monitor investment processes with a view to proposing improvements and enhancements.
  • For new funds, help determine appropriate fund specs/investment guidelines.
  • Participate in ad hoc performance reviews of the full product range as required for internal committees, boards, etc. and support/lead the team activities in their interaction with investment teams, client portfolio managers and product managers to co-ordinate and produce clear messaging on performance, processs, and strategy.
  • Be comfortable working with risk management colleagues to address all significant investment risks to which funds are exposed to, including market risk, liquidity risk, counterparty risk, and leverage.
  • Quantitative data – take ownership of and develop the quantitative data that the team produce with regards funds. Working knowledge of Power BI, Aladdin, and Bloomberg would be preferred. 
  • Maintain and develop the company’s ESG due diligence process as well as managing the ongoing ESG oversight of the Investment manager.
