Job Description

This is a broad, influential role bringing together investment analysis, insurance knowledge and stakeholder leadership. You will work across the Investments team with colleagues in Portfolio Management, Asset Liability Management, Capital, Risk and Asset Management to assess new asset classes, sourcing opportunities, strategic partnerships and how best to optimise our backbook.

You will be joining an environment where complex investment ideas need to be translated into well-supported decisions utilising  the latest regulatory developments (e.g. Highly Predictable (HP) assets, MA Investment Accelerator). We therefore welcome people with a crossover knowledge of how insurance regulation and investment constraints interact and can combine technical credibility with clear communication, thoughtful judgement and collaborative delivery.

    What you'll be doing:

    • Supporting strategically important investment and business development initiatives
    • Developing new asset classes and alternative asset-sourcing channels
    • Originating and evaluating investment opportunities beyond established sourcing routes
    • Leading detailed due diligence across asset modelling, risk-return, capital, matching adjustment, P&L, ALM and hedging considerations
    • Assessing how potential investments fit within the wider portfolio
    • Establishing and managing effective relationships with external asset managers
    • Collaborating with Portfolio Management, ALM, Capital, Risk and wider business stakeholders
    • Managing the effective handover of completed projects to operational teams

    Who we're looking for:

    • Strong knowledge of the UK insurance sector and its investment considerations
    • Good understanding and ideally experience of utilising the latest regulatory developments (Highly Predictable (HP) assets, MA Investment Accelerator)
    • A broad understanding of fixed income investments across different asset classes
    • Experience originating and evaluating investments for UK insurers
    • Strong analytical judgement and the ability to evaluate complex opportunities
    • Experience working across functions and managing senior stakeholders
    • Clear written and verbal communication skills, including explaining technical subjects to varied audiences
    • Effective project management skills and evidence of delivering through others
    • A numerate, actuarial or investment qualification, or equivalent relevant experience, would be advantageous

Whatever your role, we reward performance and behaviour with a package that looks after all the things that are important to you. Here are some of the benefits we offer:

    • The opportunity to participate in our annual, performance -related bonus plan and valuable share schemes
    • Generous pension contribution
    • Life assurance
    • Healthcare Plan (permanent employees only)
    • At least 25 days holiday, plus public holidays, 26 days after 2 years’ service. There’s also the option to buy and sell holiday
    • Competitive family leave
    • Participate in our electric car scheme, which offers employees the option to hire a brand-new electric car through tax efficient salary sacrifice (permanent employees only)
    • There are many discounts we offer – both for our own products and at a range of high street stores and online
    • We’re creating net‑zero carbon workplaces by 2030 by investing in our sustainable, modern offices across the UK, all designed to bring people together and elevate the in‑person experience

    Additional Information
