Position Summary 

Reporting to the Head of Capital Markets, the Investment Analyst is responsible for building on Squadron Energy’s market intelligence, innovation and deal execution capability. The Investment Analyst is a hands-on role that will be responsible for supporting the development and execution of corporate development activities including mergers and acquisitions, growth strategies and optimisation. 

Key Responsibilities 

Supporting the execution of various corporate development by the following activities: 

  • Create and refine valuation models for acquisitions, investments and new business initiatives. 

  • Assist in the planning and execution of due diligence. 

  • Support negotiation of transaction and associated documentation. 

  • Assist in transaction project management and administration. 

  • Support the planning and execution of post-merger integration.  

Preparation of management and board materials spanning all areas of corporate development. 

Assist in the continual assessment of portfolio strategy and optimisation.  

Assessing opportunities including valuation and risk assessments as appropriate which align to

Squadron Energy’s strategy and growth objectives. 

Undertaking specific projects to support execution of Squadron Energy strategy. 

General Responsibilities 

Health, safety, and environment 

Comply with all workplace health, safety and environmental obligations and report any incidents, hazards and accidents to the safety and environment team. 

Administration 

Ensure all documentation is stored and recorded on the Squadron Energy document management system. 

Reporting 

Ensure that issues and risks are escalated/reported to management in a timely manner. 

Financial 

Adhere to Squadron Energy and project procedures for purchasing and expenditure in compliance with approved budgets. 

Stakeholders 

Maintain a professional relationship with all project Stakeholders. 

Company 

Ensure that all work is carried out in accordance with Squadron Energy's employee policies and standards. 

Skills and experience 

Experience and knowledge 

  • 1-3 years’ experience in investment banking, inhouse corporate development funds management, project finance or similar. 

  • Proven experience in mergers and acquisitions or investments. 

  • Experience in negotiation and legal documentation. 

Skills 

  • Demonstrated strategic and analytic thinking capability. 

  • Ability to engage stakeholders and work as part of a team. 

  • Comfortable working in a fast paced and dynamic environment. 

Qualifications 
  • Undergraduate qualification in commerce, accounting, finance, economics or similar. 

  • Postgraduate qualifications including Masters of Finance or MBA (desirable but not required).  

  • CA, CFA, CPA or equivalent (desirable but not required).
