As a global business, Aberdeen consists of three divisions: Investments, Adviser, and interactive investor (ii). Each division is dedicated to meeting and adapting to our clients' evolving needs.
Our Asia Pacific Investments business has a large, dedicated and highly experienced investment team which has been investing across the region since 1985, and manages all our Asian products, including regional, country, smaller companies, and sustainable investing propositions.
The team has a strong regional footprint with offices in Singapore, Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur, Tokyo, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Seoul, and Sydney. This breadth gives us close proximity to the companies we own and the markets we invest in. Our APAC operations have been based in Singapore since 1992. We invest in Asian companies to grow with them and to help them to become better investors
Investment
- Contribute to team investment process and contribute to team management of assets
- Lead meetings with management of companies
- Attend all regular team meetings to discuss and present investment ideas
- Provide updates on company meetings and results at team meetings
- Represent Aberdeen Investments in client meetings
- Contribute to the passive investment process (full replication and optimized) and contribute to the team management of assets
Leadership/People Management
- Work with members in regional sectors under his/her coverage and lead on some projects
Marketing/Business Development
- Present the investment process to prospective clients
- Work closely with distribution team to win new mandates
Portfolio Administration
- Maintain model portfolios
- Plan and execute trades and ensure all trades are in line with requirements of client mandates.
Portfolio Construction/Management
- To recommend ideas for various portfolios across the Equities franchise
- Provide quality ideas of different investment styles for portfolios that have different requirements
Research
- Undertake security and sector analysis and complete stock notes
- Keep up-to-date on sector, country and market developments and trends
- Country trips and produce investment trip reports
- To perform analysis of company results and provide results commentaries of portfolio holdings
- To undertake a wide variety of index research – rules, performance, construction and index reviews / changes
Risk Management
- To maintain up-to-date knowledge of compliance and dealing procedures
- To comply with all regulatory, legal, corporate and client mandates
Training and Development
- To build and maintain knowledge of Aberdeen investment process, products and allocated market/sector responsibilities
- To build and maintain knowledge of Aberdeen systems, including Charles River Factset and AI apps
- To participate and attend Continual Professional development opportunities in order to maintain knowledge and skills
