Provides advanced oversight of investment and endowment operations, combining portfolio analysis and investment research with financial reporting, accounting, and compliance responsibilities. Serves as a key partner in ensuring investment activities and endowment funds are accurately managed and aligned with RIT’s financial objectives and donor requirements.
Controller's Office
The Controller’s Office (CTO) is comprised of accounting and financial professionals who work together to provide accurate, timely, and actionable information and services to our customers while acting as good stewards of the university's financial resources.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Regularly reviews investment performance, identifying trends and opportunities for improvement
- Conducts thorough research on potential investment opportunities and market conditions. Develops and implements robust investment strategies by evaluating various asset classes and market trends
- Handles financial records for all investment activities, ensuring accuracy, compliance with donor requirements, and adherence to all applicable regulations. Prepares and reconciles financial statements and reports, maintaining meticulous documentation to support portfolio management
- Engages with internal and external stakeholders by providing detailed reports and responding promptly to inquiries about investments, fund allocations, and the status of endowments
- Oversees and streamlines administrative and accounting processes related to investments. Manages reconciliations, prepares financial statements, and ensures compliance with accounting standards and audit requirements
- Works closely with internal teams and external partners, such as custodians and vendors, to streamline operations, resolve discrepancies, and maintain regulatory compliance
- Other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
- Knowledge of accounting, finance, and budgeting practices and protocols to ensure accurate financial management and compliance
- Knowledge of capital markets and investment practices, principles, and regulations
- Knowledge of enterprise-wide financial applications and Microsoft Office
- Skill in synthesizing and analyzing financial data and preparing detailed reports to support decision-making and budgeting activities
- Skill in written, verbal, and interpersonal communication and customer service
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and exercise professional judgment regarding financial decisions
Minimum Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in related field
- 7 years of relevant experience
- Equivalent combination of experience and education may be considered
