BBH Investment Management seeks to generate attractive long-term investment returns over full market cycles and currently operates three strategies across its equity suite, including Select Series - Large Cap Fund, Select-Series - Mid Cap Fund, and our Concentrated Small & Mid-Cap Strategy. These strategies employ a long-term business-ownership approach within a discount to intrinsic value framework. Our analysts seek to identify well-managed, structurally advantaged, durable cash flow generative businesses that meet demanding qualitative criteria and are trading at an attractive discount to estimated intrinsic value. These BBH strategies generally hold investments in 10-40 companies with a target holding period of three to five plus years. Investments are actively managed and are driven purely by a bottom-up research driven process.

The Role

We are seeking a highly motivated individual with two or more years of relevant work experience to join our investment team as a junior equity analyst focused on mid-cap US domestic equities. Experience in US domestic equity research is preferred, and all candidates will be asked to complete a case study including a working three-statement financial model. The analyst will be part of a generalist, sector agnostic effort to evaluate companies for the Select Series - Mid Cap Fund. Candidates should demonstrate exceptional intellectual and analytical capabilities, strong internal motivation and drive, high personal integrity, and a passion for investing. We are looking for individuals with a record of high professional and academic achievement.

Responsibilities

  • Provide idea generation and decision support as part of a team
  • Evaluate potential investments through industry and financial statement analysis as well as primary due diligence (interviews with management, competitors, suppliers, customers)
  • Build and update financial and valuation models and other statistical analyses
  • Conduct investment valuation utilizing appropriate methodologies
  • Prepare written investment summaries, documentation of due diligence activities and periodic company updates
  • Monitor companies that are held in the portfolio as well as others that are being actively researched - track company and related industry news flow and earnings, attend industry conferences
  • Actively participate in team meetings in which new ideas are presented for initial vetting or as existing holdings are re-examined; provide constructive feedback and raise key questions

Candidate Profile

  • Undergraduate degree required
  • 2+ years of relevant work experience
  • Strong conceptual and critical thinking skills; able to identify and assess key issues rather than simply filtering and reprocessing information
  • Strong accounting and financial statement analysis skills
  • Excels at building and maintaining financial models
  • Ability to articulate and defend investment theses through both written and oral communications
  • Self-starter; able to operate and think independently
  • Competitive spirit and demonstrated team player

Salary Range

$95,000-$105,000

BBH's compensation program includes base salary, discretionary bonuses, and profit-sharing. The anticipated base salary range(s) shown above are only for the indicated location(s) and may differ in other locations due to cost of living and labor considerations. Base salaries may vary based on factors such as skill, experience and qualification for the role.
