Job Description
To provide a quality investigations service, ensure containment of claims spend and provide excellent service in setting a culture of best practice within mandated responsible.Investigators responsibilities
Handle all primary validations on the claim, including previous insurance checks, interviewing relevant parties, contact SAPS etc
Retrieve and listen to the claims, sales & client services conversation if any problem is picked up on the claim
Calls for transcriptions
Send prejudice requests
Request and attach accident reports, settlement letters and copy of registration documents
Attach prejudice request and other relevant documentation
Standard validation comments / Not recorded on SOP or Iwyze documentation
Visiting scenes and investigating the circumstances;
Assessing a range of factual information including the claimant’s background;
Checking details with policy holders, witnesses and other professionals (e.g. police);
Writing reports and collating information;
Presenting evidence in a forum;
Protect the company from paying out invalid claims;
Arranging payments and any other required services (builders, plumbers, panel beaters etc)
Giving advice on claims;
Liaising with solicitors and negotiating a payment;
Deciding who is liable;
Keeping the customers’ policy information updated
Make sure that vehicle is uplifted to an approved panel beater or Auction Nation
Ensure vehicle assessor is appointed
This signoff must be dealt with by the reporting Manager

Skills Required
- Bachelor degree or equivalent NQF Level 7 in general insurance
- 5-8 years' experience applying investigation techniques to validate claims
- 5-8 years' experience in the general insurance claims industry
- Certification or accreditation in accident reconstruction
- Certification or accreditation in technical investigations
- Experience with on-board diagnostics (OBD), controller area network (CAN) bus, crash data recorder (CDR) and infotainment data extraction
- Experience in the South African Police Force
- Up-to-date knowledge of South African road regulations and relevant legislation
